As someone who has ridged rappelling anchors before my rule of thumb is if it's thinner than your leg don't trust it. In this video they perform a tyrolean traverse which can produce 3 times as much force on the anchors. Given the rope appears to be tied to the hook with 2 half hitches there is no way to double up the rope from their side of the canyon. The limb could potentially be strong enough if the grappling hook was near the base but it was clearly not. There was obviously a person on the other side that rigged the line to something stronger. The only time I would trust this system is if people are shooting bullets at me in the middle of a war.

I am reminded of Bear taking Jessy someone or other from Modern Family and walking him up a mountain, to hike along the jagged top. With perilous drops in both sides. One surprise wind gust and either or both of them are gone. Or the camera person. It is low risk to obey Bear on these excursions. But it is often with deadly consequences. 999,998/1,000,000 times it’s okay. But the other 2 times. It’s not. And it was needless. Just an adrenaline spike. Yet here I am, watching thrill seeking behaviours again.
