You re videos are great. As someone who is actively doing all the research I can before purchasing a bearded dragon, your videos have become invaluable!! I'm hoping to purchase one from you actually! We livr in Georgia as well

Thank you. We love to see our dragons go to homes that have well prepared for their arrival.

Last year Rosa brumated for 6 months! I had to bother her each day to finally bring her out of it. She was fine once I made her wake up - it was scarry that she didn't want to wake on her own. I wonder if the long time was because she was obese and suffering malnutrition when I rescued her. She was down to a healthier weight and showing signs of better nutrition when bruation time arrived. This year I finally got her to eat greens (bee pollen a life saver) and she actually had a normal shed! Hoping this brumation is not so long.

I'm currently doing researching, as I'd like to have a bearded dragon. I've never cared for a reptile and don't have much knowledge. Your videos have been such a great help! Thank you

I live in central AZ, and my beardie hibernates every year. You dont have to be too far north to see this behavior.

Good vid overall but hot hands heat packs should never, ever be used for reptile shipping as they're known to reach temps above 140°. Pretty sure even Debbie would agree that Uniheat packs are so much safer!! Please consider making the switch to a safer heat pack! ✌
@ColdBloodCreations5 жыл бұрын
Thank you, but we and many others have used these for many years and have never had an issue. Not once. I have tested them with a thermometer that records both the high and lows, and these will not heat up the size box anywhere near that temp you mentioned. The surface temp might reach that, though I highly doubt it, but the boxes that we tested, where the thermometer was kept in a box kept inside at room temperature (70 degrees) never reached above 91 degrees. (which is ok for dragons, though not most snakes). But I will look into this, and test again as products do change over time. Thank you for the heads up too my friend.

@@ColdBloodCreations hey thanks for being open to suggestion!💖 Some people take it personal when really it's just the animals best interest in mind. I'm glad to hear you've tested them yourself for safety, that's more than most would do. And you are right the horror stories I've been shared did involve snakes and frogs, not beardies. I'd just hate for someone to experience a loss in shipping due to using an unsafe heat pack when there's other options that are only a little bit more costly. Pennies when you consider how much shipping costs overall!

No problem at all. None of us are so superior that we can't learn from one another. I've been doing this for over 30 years and last week I picked up a couple of amazing reptile room tricks from a guy probably half my age. I appreciate you mentioning that to us. In fact I'm gonna have Debbie send me some of the ones you mentioned to see how they compare.

Hi! Love your videos! Watch all the time. However, I saw that clip with the hot hand heat pack and had to look through the comments to see if someone else had mentioned... As a regular user of hot hands (and I live in Georgia near you) I saw this and was shocked! Hot hand heat packs last for a maximum of 30 minutes..... not at all acceptable for hours in 30 degree or lower temps. Hope you can reconsider using a heat pack that lasts for longer!

How long do they typically hibernate, and how will you know when they are done?
@ColdBloodCreations5 жыл бұрын
We usually allow ours to hibernate for 3 months. We usually wake em up ourselves, but they will start to open their eyes and be more active when you allow them to wake on their own.

Love your Chanel I have learned so much even growing mealworms I notice there a black spot on my dragon any idea of what it could be is the heat lamp to close to him ? Thanks

My dragon still basks and his light period is fixed, but he does often hang out with his eyes closed and is minimally responsive, even to his favorite food. He has reduced his eating to only super worms (he never ate much vegetables) and only eats pellets accidentally (I give one super worm by hand to get his attention, then put a few in the bowl with the pellets). Suggestions?
@ColdBloodCreations5 жыл бұрын
If they don't bask, don't feed. The food left in the stomach of a cold dragon will simply rot in their gut. NOT GOOD. I'd stop feeding and cut the lights for a while.
@wendyadams75085 жыл бұрын
Mine is going into hibernation. So what you are saying is I can turn the lights off during hibernation?

My beardy is on the small side. I think its because I let him sleep through the winter when he was only close to a year old.

Hey y’all love the channel I have one question: what are your thoughts on under tank heat mats/pads and are they essential or can lamps provide enough heat in their own? (I live in northern Ohio) Most people I’ve talked to like them but I’m a bit wary since I had a lizard get burns from one of them once
@ingwerminze3 жыл бұрын
Hello guys! I live in Germany and my Beardie should be 1 1/2 now. The problem is: The two winters he literally went for brumation for 6 months each (even when he was only a few months old), just coming out for a drink now and then. I keep track of all his actions, dinners and I always react on his (natural) behaviour but I am so afraid that he might get MBD and that I am doing something wrong but I also don’t want to overreact. He currently is 28cm long. Is he too small? He looks healthy and behaves attentive and he always wants to eat. ^^

Hello, we have a bearded dragon that is under six months old and is showing signs of hibernating. After watching your video and reading over a few article all say we should try and stop her from doing so. How would you advise me to waking her up without over stressing her out?
