Good fair review. I also love that you don't give a 💩 about what people say in the comments. You don't strike me as a fanboy. Hope you continue to make great reviews.

I was able to hold this thing in a knife shop for a bit and it is definitely a great design for a big knife. ZT original over built roots coming back.

I’m on a ZT run at the moment (3 over the last month) and this is a big knife that I don’t own but it appeals to me. Weight aside, this isn’t a knife that you’d carry every day but for hiking and heavy tasks, it’s perfect. I have to agree with you that the Medford’s are built like a tank and owning one wouldn’t be an option (not yet anyway) but never say never. ZT is a brand I like and I will keep adding a piece to the collection every now and then and this one will certainly be on the radar in the foreseeable future. Once again you’ve outdone yourself and nailed this `breakdown‘ of this piece. Thanks for the great video Jake 😄👍

I carry 3 -4 knives on my person at any given time. I'm just a Knife Fanatic. I alternate my knives. However, My ZT0308 is ALWAYS with me. NEVER leave home without it. It's just a SUPER RELIABLE knife. I would NEVER sell my ZT0308. Also, I used Rit Dye to Dye the Coyote Brown Scale to a Black Scale. It Looks AWESOME!!!! Wish I could put a pic to show how good it looks.

Great review, very interesting. I have never had a ZT in hand and would like to someday but have still yet to come across one that intrigues me enough at its price point to choose it over other options. Like a lot of people say though may need to get them in hand

You are absolutely right, medford knives are a novelty trash. Now this zt 308 against a cold steel 4max scout.... What are your thoughts on that?

Talk about a coincidence, I carried the ZT 0308 today. This is one of my favorite ZT knives but I haven't carried it in months. I've been on a bit of a buying spree, probably averaging 4 to 5 knives a month. I'm actually waiting for 3 knives right now....yeah I've got a problem don't judge me. Great show great knife 🔪.
@JohnC294 жыл бұрын
I've been buying several knives a month lately too. I'm glad to not be the only one with this problem.

The virus is a perfect storm of events for the knife world. I bet more people have got into the high end knife/edc world this year than any before. This has been an awful year for me & a lot of people but my new hobby is one positive I take away from this. I've been trying to get info or a lead on where & when I can get the new Spartan Harsey Plague Dr. Folder. I'd like to have something to remind me of making it through this awful year, & this is a really cool knife 🔪 to commemorate that.

Your not the only one, I bought 12 last month. Blades are so addicting and beautiful! My weakness...
@martinmiller10874 жыл бұрын
There's an epidemic of cutlery fever sweeping the nation now. This month, I've bought 2 high end Spydercos, 4 high end Benchmade Axis locks, 2 custom fixed blades, 2 TRC fixed blades, a Kizlyar Puukko, plus 2 more large high end Benchmade Axis locks are enroute. I need more pockets. ... If they develop a vaccine for cutlery fever, I'm not sure if I'll take it or not. ... I only own one ZT, a Les George 0920. When I got it, I had great difficulty getting it to open reliably with the flipper, as I was grasping the lock bar on the handle too tightly. I keep it on a table at home and open and close it often just for practice. I am still not at 100% on opening the the thing, which is mandatory for it to become an EDC. STRIKE 1. I carried it in my right front jeans pocket ONCE. The titanium scales are fluted with a transverse radial pattern, like the grooves on a vinyl record. I was chagrined to discover I could not draw the knife from my pocket, as there was too much friction between the thick denim top seam and those infernal radial titanium grooves. STRIKE 2. I could file and sand those grooves down in the area where the pocket clip attaches, but I hate to do that to a $240 knife that I can't open reliably. It does make a beautiful paper weight on the table. BALL 1. ... I decided to never buy another flipper only knife, because of the unreliability of the opening, particularly if under duress with the sympathetic nervous system activated. ... However, the ZT 0308 is on my radar. Your review goes a long way toward easing my mind about giving frame lock flippers a second chance. Thanks, bearded one.

It can be expensive to convert all of the tooling and they can’t justify making as many plus they often times don’t sell well. But I wish they did, I sympathize as somebody who writes and shoots left handed.

I totally agree with things about Medford 😉 ...! I bought an Infraction here in Germany for about 650 € ( 780 $ ). And the first feeling in my hand was ... wtf! I wouldn't say really about the blade, but the handle shaping (titanium & carbon) was terrible! sharp edges, you could see the traces of manufacture from lasers or wather cutter etc. and i didn't feel any love in details, such as the curves on the handle. With the carbon handle, I had to regrind some areas of the edges, as these were not the same in some places 😒. I sold this knife again after only two weeks and I was so looking forward to it. What I want to say, you get a better knife with more attention to details and the same, or with better materials, for half the price. A ZT is much better at manufacturing. But that's just my opinion. I can say, however, that I have some knives from ZT, Chris Reeve, or Koenig in order to be able to make meaningful comparisons.

Ive heard some people swear by them and some people say they don't work. You might want to buy a thermacell. Buy it from a place that will allow returns if you don't like it. I've never tried one so I can't vouch for it personally. Maybe others will chime in

Dude! Thanks for actually showing us this knife in use. You even freaking batoned with it. I got so tired of watching reviews on this knife with these guys yapping out the side of their necks, doing Paper cut tests and stroking the blade like if it was their own puny cocks. I like big folders, but you said it best. Big done right. That's how I feel about my Cold Steel Recon 1. I've been thinking about picking this model up. Thanks for the video my Bladed Brother 👍 ⚔️ ✝️ 🇺🇲

Fully agree. The Medford 187 is garbage compared to the this ZT0308. All points you are making are valid. Every ounce of weight counts. Nobody wants to carry a ton or cut with a knife that has too thick a blade. That said, I like the ZT0560 better (because it 1 ounce or more lighter and because Elmax is a less brittle steel) than the ZT0308. Knife manufacturers tend to use more and more brittle steels that keep edge sharpness longer so that knife collectors don't have to resharpen their knives. I find it ridiculous.
