God I'm too much of a coward to give you my life And I know that I'm still gonna cry every single night But if you want me I'm gonna stay here and fight till you say son your heart is mine im not really religious or something but these lines just got me ... i cried when i first listened to sick and disgusting & the whole album is so emotional..personally i think its pretty much one of the best albums realised in a while!

Honestly, this album cracked Beartooth into my favorite band slot. I started listening after the 5/5 you gave it, and dude, not even remotely disappointed in anything Beartooth has put out (even the weaker tracks like Set Me On Fire off of the Sick EP). Every friend I have shown Beartooth to has absolutely LOVED them, and I am super pumped to see them live next month with Silverstein. This is literally the only time in my life I think a review has changed my life, and it's for the better. Beartooth gave me an appreciation for Attack Attack, but every song describes a moment in my life almost note for note. Hell, this is the only album that has made me cry, because just listening to Sick and Disgusting BREAKS me. It just reminds me of the lowest point in my life. I don't agree with a lot of the reviews I have watched from you, but dude, never has an album hit me or my friends so hard, and it's all because of this review. Thanks for making me aware of this band/album man, and here's to this album being in the Top albums of the year!

Dude I love Beartooth so much. I heard of them first when I saw them on tour with August Burns Red. There's just so much emotion and honestly and brutality in their music. It just stands out so much to me because of that. There is way to many music these days that is so hollow and emotionless. Then I hear Beartooth, and it all just shows the emotions I feel inside of myself. It's awesome. If you want to check out an album that's similar as far as emotion and goes, you should listen to "Rescue and Restore" by August Burns Red. I'm sure you'd enjoy that to.

AGREED! Hollow and emotionless is how I feel about so much music in the hardcore and metalcore genres, this was such a pleasant surprise. I would LOVE to see them live! Thanks, I'll check that album out!

I was obsessed with Attack Attack! and Caleb and John leaving the band tore a hole in my heart. The day after their departure, Caleb released I Have A Problem and I knew him leaving was probably the best thing that has happened in his career. Now I've been obsessed with Beartooth since day 1. Who knew a kid who drops out of high school can go out to start great things.

Good review dude! I completely agree with you on this being the best album of 2014 so far. I love this album so much. And Caleb has one of my favourite screams and his singing is amazing. I was in a raw hardcore band and I am a huge The Chariot fan so the rawness of this album is great for me. Anyways great review, keep up the good work!

I get that musicians often write about themselves in their lyrics but remember like any other poetry, novels or short stories - The "I" in the songs isn't always equal the author. More often that not the author of a song will take the perspective of a close friend or maybe he will but himself in the place of someone else. I think Dexter from The Offspring explained it doing one of his interviews, how he hates that everyone associates the "narrator" in his lyrics as himself. Not saying that this is the case with this album - You just never know for sure.

I had never hear of Beartooth before, so I listened to them after watching this review. At first I was like, it's OK, but I don't think it's that great. Then I started hearing the songs playing over and over in my head. Now, I think I'm a little obsessed with this album.

Fantastic review and the choruses on I Have A Problem, In Between, and Beaten In Lips really hit me. Love every song on this album and can't wait to see and hopefully meet them at Warped this year. This will probably be my album of the year unless Linkin Park's album ends up being flawless and so far it is IMO but idk if that will hold up.

Yep. I only listen to a few hardcore/metalcore bands, but these guys killed it. The lyrics are raw, honest, even uncomfortable; that makes all the difference. And I can't believe he played and produced everything HIMSELF! Every song has a great chorus. Positive. Just loving Beartooth right now.
@brettwodon58969 жыл бұрын
glad to see this get a great score. Love this sooo much. Once you compared Beaten In Lips to Billy Talent I sung it to myself and totally understood what you meant. I think Billy Talent's singer would be a great fit for that chorus

and you're right about the spiritual thing. I'm not really a religious person, and even though Caleb is sort of religious, he doesn't force it into the music.

You really opened me up to this genre of music with A Day To Remember and ive got to say im very impressed by this recommendation, i think Body Bag and the lines have got to be my favorites off the album, but cant wait till the full thing drops. Id like to recommend alter bridge's album "fortress" that they dropped last october. i really dug it and am interested to hear if you have anything to say. thanks!
@artvjon10 жыл бұрын
Awesome, I'm glad to hear that! I actually own Fortress, got in late :( I like it a wholeeee lot but I figured it was a little late for a review. I think it was the best straight up rock record of 2013.

AlbumReviewTV Funny you say that because i only got fortress last month, and i loved it. Im not sure it tops Like Clockwork for me... we'll see with more listens. By the way, im anxiously anticipating you're review of hunting party. (almost as much as the album itself. Ha)

Great review, I absolutely LOVE Beartooth. Caleb Shomo really did an amazing job with this album, I'm excited to see the future album(s) of this band and how he'll follow up the masterpiece 'Disgusting" turned out to be.

I don't really know if you take requests for album reviews, but if you do; could you review The Amity Affliction's newest album 'Let the Ocean Take Me'? They''re one of my favorite band's and I love the album. I feel I would enjoy listening to another person's opinions and views on it. :)

I am very glad that this got a 5/5. I have listened to this album all the way through only once but I have to agree with you that it is absolutely brilliant. Most albums need at least two listens for me to feel like I can form an opinion but with this one I was hooked from the first song. It definitely deserves the score that you gave it.

My all time favorite band is Of Mice & Men... so for me to say that I like this album more than Restoring Force as a top 2014 release means A LOT. That aside, Me in My Own Head and Sick and Disgusting are easily my favorites on the album. Never has a closing on an album left me so in shock (in a good way though)

Before I say the negative side of things let me start off with saying the positives. I am a fan of Beartooth based off the very punk inspired elements of the instrumentals. I have been a fan of Caleb since This Means War from Attack Attack. The lyrics in these songs are wonderful. There is just one thing I can not stand from this album, and that is the production value. The tones on the instruments sounded to flat. A good example of this is in Beaten In Lips. On the breakdown you can just hear how flat the guitar sounds. All in all though if someone else mixed and mastered I would be far more impressed, but I did enjoy the album as a whole.

The thing about beartooth is Caleb has all the attention, the band as a whole should be acknowledged not sure why caleb recorded all the instruments himself
@markt509010 жыл бұрын
Because he wrote the entire album himself. Its his project, the lyrics and the music are a representation of himself. He just needed a crew to play the tracks live.
@roadofross489710 жыл бұрын
Beartooth is basically a musical representation of Caleb himself, the touring members are some close friends of his. Why would you put the work into writing all the instrumental parts, just to give others the credit for it?

I could never get into beartooth... Too religious with the line "Go be the voice of god". I don't wanna be the voice of god. I love Caleb. All his projects and music I loved but I can't just. It's all about the music but lyrics and the message it's sending matter
@alixmalone1910 жыл бұрын
Huh...I thought of it as, "Stop relying on others and be the only person to answer to is yourself". Yours works too.

I get the appreciation for the instrumentation.... But Caleb's vocals are so bad I stopped listening to it after a I heard all the songs AltPress streamed. The lyrics and music are good, but Caleb's vocals are probably some of the worst I heard. How this scored higher than Real. Is beyond my mind. I disagree with your opinion, though you are entitled to it.
