My parents couldn't afford a Schwinn. I had an Otasco Flying O. I got a Schwinn later with my lawn mowing money, which I pulled the mower behind the bicycle.

Beautiful collection. Thanks for sharing it. You were mentioning about Center stamp S2 rims and when they changed over to the side stamp. Center stamps were used up until 1968, then they went to the side stamp. I'm glad you don't paint anything,I feel strongly about that myself.

I was lucky enough to get a 76 stingray that I converted to a 5 speed stick shift. It's hard to find a complete stingray but if you have the time you can build a nice one

I had a stingray with a sissy bar and the spring front end. Single speed but it was the cool bike among my friends. Only thing that compares is riding a nice Harley. You're right about the cool factor

Many years ago, after my brothers and I grew up, I hung all of our schwinn bikes up in the garage off the roof joists. They hung there for decades until a few years ago when ont of my brothers expressed interest in them. Now they are hanging in the roof of his garage.
