im barely conq 1 and i age up nearly everytime at 02:15. my build order is more efficient than his. after that he kills me 100 of 100 times. but his abbassid build order is not Perfect.

@@bitcoinatlas6295 I believe this is where "min-maxing" comes into play. Build orders can just be good enough while focusing on improving the other parts. Your attention to perfecting the build order might mean you have a tighter one than beasty, but I think it's better to focus on improving the other parts so you can achieve a higher level of play.

This is pure swag. Calling a civ OP then accepting a challenge of one of the top players to bo5 vs Abbasid. No draft, no ban, opponent picks maps, picks counter civs and still winning 3-0. If all this is not enough, he then accepts opponent's offer to keep playing rest of the games because opponent says he played bad. Then finally after an hour long game making it 4-0. My dear friends that's how you defend and prove your opinion and you believe in what you said in a balls of steel level. Thanks to both players for this amazing content.

Abbasid main here. For 3 years Abbasid was below average, and now we are enjoying an OP tier S civ. However I suspect that we might be crying next patch once word gets to the devs.

​@@txbrandtI don't think it's possible to have an objective opinion if you only play that civ. If you win a bunch, matchmaking will just put you against stronger opponents until your win rate is 50/50 again, so it's always a going to "feel" balanced from your own perspective.

I think the closest way to be objective is to play it equally with other civs and see if it performs better or worse. There's not a lot of people who can do that though.

Issue is "Fertile Crescent" TCs are just too cheep. Just swap upgrades in Eco wing. for example - Improved Processing / Fertile Crescent / Agriculture. You can still get cheapter farms and TCs but in castle. If you are in Feudal you need same resources as others.

In Conq3+ Abba may be „op“ but overall they are fine. I am only high diamond / low conq and tbh. All these all ins from byz/dheli/HRE are very strong . China / shusi chug nu push is strong. If u make mistakes , like me , you often have a hard time. At lower levels of the ladder abba feels fine. It is most likely not the civ rather your play.

I could think of a couple explanations why that's not entirely true. For one, it might be more of a suggestion to those who haven't internalized timings of incoming attacks from English, where knowing when to pull villagers from resources and re-macro is important when pulling off more risky boom strategies. Second, I think Eco Wing is certainly more risky against English when English goes 1 TC Feudal all-in with Council Hall, which is not the meta at the top level anyway. But Abbasid going 2 TC Eco Wing can reasonably fend off English Feudal all-in with Council Hall, and even the more conservative 1 TC Eco Wing could still result in Abbasid being ahead on Eco after what would likely be a failed all-in attempt. Wam went 2 TC Abbey of Kings, which is pretty easy to go 3+ TC against as long as you place your TCs in safe positions and can micro villagers away from King raids.

Abbasid feels OP, and it's indeed very strong and fun to play; but the numbers don't add up. They have never been at the top 5 civs on any patch, on any rank, including now

Two reasons: first in lower leagues, and maybe in ladder in general, people have harder time defending early aggressions and tend to misplay and giving up more often against aggro civs (because defending is harder than attacking); and secondly there is a general shift through more aggro and less optimized playstiles (often way more all-in situations) for example why should I main Abba and have maybe a 60-70% WR with game averaging 50 mins if not more, when I can climb the ladder anyway with a 55-60% WR OOTD with 20-30 min games. Beasty and Wam are top 5 players of this game, and their playstyles and builds are the most winning optimized you can have.

@@massimob4588 that is true, in general ladded (mind you, from bronze all the way to conqueror III, excluding pro level top 100 players), it's harder to defend. Abba needs t more time than others to get rolling, and by that point, you'd have to defend, for example, 15 royal knights or 30 longbows with TCs and a few units. It can be hard. ....and what do you do with OOTD to have a high win rate? I'm kinda lost with them this patch

@@eljouser As I said playing aggressive is a little bit more achieving in the long run but it's not that crazy anyway, I would usually open Meinwerk and than stable or barracks depending on map and matchup or some times naked castle. In feudal the two most important things I care about are harassing (while preserving my units microing them) and going out on the closest deers (I'll keep the sheep for later). Harassing usually gives opponents at my elo enough pressure to make them build units or defenses slowing their eco and age up and giving me nicer castle timings. In castle I shift to a more turtle playstyle, I take relics, build emplacements and aim to the faster Imp I can get without dying. In imp then you have this wierd timer where you die if you wait too much even if you have 5 relics, so it's important to shift back to pressure the oppo.

I'd imagine that win rate is more reflective of the fact that at lower leagues, defending while booming is more taxing from a multitasking perspective than being aggressive. You can see how much Beasty has to juggle when managing 4 TCs, with all the re-macroing, moving villagers, building enough production, getting the right upgrades at the right time, etc. It can be pretty overwhelming to manage to spend all the resources that 4 TC Abbasid can gather. By contrast, it's relatively straightforward to allocate the right number of villagers to each resource needed to execute a Feudal all-in which typically causes the defender to panic and make mistakes.
