Weirdest fact from this guide. The Italian translation, instead of getting new screens from the Italian version or just keeping the English ones, kept the English screens but blurred them to make them impossible to read so that no one could notice that. Sadly the artworks were also blurred, and the braille guide for the Regi too.
@RiftFishing3 жыл бұрын
I had the official Nintendo Power guide rather than the Prima growing up, but I remember just being completely amazed by it. The Pokedex in the back, details on every route and I think it even had a braille translation section. It really made the world feel massive. There were a couple funny bits in it like a section saying "Use your master ball on hard to catch Pokemon" and then proceeded to show them using it on a Loudred. I'll need to see if I can find it again.

I'm playing through Alpha Sapphire currently and that does seem like a logical explanation. Although as recently as the 1800's it was common to send anybody with bad health to the countryside to recuperate, and this seems to be an idea in Japan too as it shows up in My Neighbor Totoro. Since Hoenn is based on Kyushu, and that area is known for being more warm and tropical, maybe he was told to move somewhere with a warmer climate.
@krystallinekris2 жыл бұрын
@@mizusenshisongs There's that, too, but they specifically mention uh... Verdanturf I think is the name of the city at the end of the tunnel by Rustboro? They specifically that city to be where they're sending Wally to 'get better, because the "air is cleaner" I think? I think they say it's because of the breeze or something. They mentioned this even when you're in that third city where your father is the gym leader, which is where *his* house technically is.

I got this guide shortly after this game came out and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I even bragged about having this guide at school. Now that I see all the goofy stuff in this guide it make that whole story funny🤣

Okay so a quick search has resulted in finding that while Wally's sickness is never explained, his condition appears to clear up in clean air so he apparently has Acute Bronchitis or Asthma according to the wiki about him.

I used those guides as a kid all the time haha. I’ve got one for Emerald, Diamond/Pearl, Platinum, and Heart Gold/Soul Silver

My first ever Pokemon game. I've played this game over 1000 times since getting it in 2005 and I love it to death. I still have my original cartridge but just recently it stopped working. I've recently playing a playthrough as of writing using only Pokemon I haven't used before. It's fun.

It's implied that Wally has either asthma or acute bronchitis since his condition improves with cleaner air.

I am well aware of that, however at the point where the guide says Wally is sick there wasn’t any indication that he was sick until later on

The term bumper crop refers to a harvest that is particularly large, larger than you expect from what you planted. Kinda weird to refer to it like that when you wouldn't even have the squirtbottle at that point in the game and your berry harvest would be really bad without that lol
