In Episode 105 of the India Darshan travel series, I give you a walking tour of my modest accommodation in Nadabet, a remote village. My stay was at a Dharamshala, an ashram-type accommodation with minimal facilities, situated within the same premises as the Nadabet temple.
Stay at Nadabet Dharamshala
This ashram provided the essentials needed for my stay. The temple premises also include a dining hall where I had a meal the previous night. The meal was filling but spicier than expected, which led me to dine out subsequently. After exploring and offering darshan at the temple, I took some time to rest before setting out on my next adventure.
Visit to Seema Darshan Premises
Just a short 1 km ride from the Dharamshala, I visited the Seema Darshan premises at Nadabet. I purchased my entrance ticket, which included a 25 km bus ride to the India-Pakistan border. There are several points where one can visit the India-Pakistan border, such as Wagah-Attari in Punjab, Tanot in Rajasthan, and Nadabet in Gujarat.
Experience at Zero Point
Upon arrival, I was advised to head directly to Zero Point as the shuttle bus service stops at 4 pm. The bus ride took around 30 minutes, and we spent another 30 minutes exploring Zero Point, taking selfies, and soaking in the historic atmosphere. Seeing Zero Point for the first time from this section of the border was an exhilarating experience. Some visitors had permission to bring their personal vehicles, but the bus ride was comfortable and fully air-conditioned, a welcome respite from the heat.
Exploring the Border Site
After returning to the main site, I grabbed some snacks and explored the museum. I had the chance to speak with some Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and, in the presence of the Chief Guest, the Inspector General himself, witnessed the awe-inspiring beating retreat ceremony. The ceremony gave me goosebumps and was a highlight of the visit. Before wrapping up my day, I managed to take a few pictures and video clips with the BSF personnel, capturing memories of this energy-packed day.
Stay tuned for more adventures as I continue exploring the diverse and fascinating regions of Gujarat and beyond in the India Darshan travel series.
