Beating the Sawgrass Watermark when using VPM and NON-Sawgrass Ink.
How to change the chipset on the ink cartridges so you SG400 / SG800 thinks it has Sawgrass ink.

or you can do the following : Go to System & Settings > Printers & Scanners > SAWGRASS SG400 RPCS-R(SG800, if that's your model). Select Manage >Printer Properties > Select 'Port' Tab at the top of the pop-up . Ensure that the port (left hand column) for SAWGRASS SG400 RPCS-R is checked (it should be already, mine was defined as USB001.) Check Enable printer pooling'. Find SG_Local and select. Apply settings, I did a restart before my test print. NO MORE WATERMARK!!!

I SWITCHED THE CHIPS ON MY CARTRIDGES NOW IT SAY USED.REPLACE. AND IT WON'T PRINT.UGHHH.

about ready to switch my SG-800 over to 3rd party ink. really don't want the hatch marks all over my prints. really needed to see this video, because that chip is always the problem. I already own the Datacolor studio kit to make ICC profiles. thanks for posting this video--AE7HF. (ham operator too)

You should go to Windows Firewall and block all incoming and outgoing connections to Sawgrass. They are an evil company. The won't allow Ricoh to work on the printers (even though they're manufactured by Ricoh), Sawgrass will not allow them to fix your printer. NEVER buy another Sawgrass printer.

so you have to purchase 4 new ones every time they printer thinks they are out? at $20 each it's cheaper to buy 3rd part cartridges.

If you buy third party cartridges you will get a sawgrass watermark across your entire image and you will not be able to use the printer. That’s what this video is explaining. So $20 for a pack of 4 chips is better than $77 a cartridge for the SG 500 ink.

@@humbertolazaro6165 You can't. They aren't out yet. Sawgrass made it difficult to crack the chip code so it's taking longer. SG500/SG1000 purchases would be the worst investments ever.

My yellow now says empty and won't print! I'm using a refillable ink cartridge and had put the chipset from the original ink and the yellow was close to empty. Now it says it's totally empty and will not print. So, be careful when using ink refills on your 500 and 1000!

@@russb257 yeah...that worked until yesterday when there was a forced update for Sawgrass Print Manger... i tried to disable the update, to prevent it, but couldn't bypass the message to use SPM at all which has always been a redundant PITA. Eventually, held my breath, installed... and welp... SG500 is now useless... Not only will it not print the correct color no matter what ICC I tried, got close with one but noticed excessive ink spray and a huge loss of resolution. Even if the color was correct, i still couldn't use. So they not only disabled printing correctly but also my printheads. I am now also having issues trying to print in Photoshop AND Affinity... since all this stuff happened yesterday, now when I try to print, it crashes the program... I've uninstalled SPM, even deleted it from devices... I'm effed... how this is even legal is beyond me... I simply can't afford to stay in business if I have to pay their jacked up ink prices... it's crazy... all these things they've put in place to force you to use their ink when really, if they just lowered the price to something reasonable, more people to include me would be okay with that.. btw... the solution here isn't available in win-10 and the SG-500/SG1000 if you select the pooling it says it can't do it unless you select an additional port.... if anyone has a solution for this latest terrorist act, right during the only time of the year when many of us make decent money, is particularly vicious.. especially with supply chain issues to try and find a replacement. it's like an EFF U from Sawgrass in that they are going to literally close your business, render you homeless, during the holiday season, just because you can't afford to use their effing ink!! HOW is that allowed to happen???

@@SCtpw Right, Im Having the same Problem, My Cyan went out now it said used cartridge and wont print!!!! This is BS I have had my SF400 for 7-8 years. it should be against the law to tamper with my property no matter who made it. it belongs to me. Thats like me selling someone a car, then putting lug-nuts on it that only I can remove so they have to buy my super expensive Tires . I will not spend my money on their ink, buying their in is like buying a space shuttle to drive to the corner store!!!

Hi, I'm using third party inks but the prints are faded...I'm using the chip they come with. The original chips shows the percentage declining. I only have 7%in black . And 4 full cartridge of third party ink I cannot use. Any help is greatly appreciated

@Elf 1203 You just print from your graphic software directly to your printer (file-print-choose printer)but you need to be using graphic software that manages your color profiles like PS or Corel where you either make adjustments directly in the software or you download an ICC profile that your printer mfg supplies you and that software also has to support ICC profiles. Otherwise, prior to PM, Sawgrass used to make Power Driver available to everyone which managed color output but they don't want anyone using that because they can't control you using that. Unfortunately, they will not give anyone the download for Power Driver any longer until someone gets mad enough and files a class action lawsuit.

@@shiisheis it wasn’t cheap. I payed $200 for the refillable cartridges with a chip that doesn’t need to be replaced it just always says it’s full so you just gotta know how much ink you got left
