Imagine if the devs add something like this when they implement NPC survivors. When out in the country, you can stumble across a house, and the front yard is full of hills of dead zombies piled on top of each other, some smelling of gas, and there are also piles of ashes scattered around. Then the front door opens, revealing a woman with a shotgun in one hand and a dead zombie being dragged outside by the other, and she looks at you in silence for a moment before saying, “…Howdy.”

@@topminator2991 There are so many games, particularly these days, where death can be avoided entirely during early phases of the game. This habitualizes surviving which can lead to players being afraid of dying in those games to a petrifying degree. In PZ, you NEED to get desensitized to a game over because especially for new players that will happen a lot. Die a bunch - see it's no big deal - enjoy the game. I remember a run in 7D2D (where dying doesn't cost you much) where I played flawlessly and went 14 days (2 hordes) with no issue at all. I had to stop playing that run because I was so tense about keeping that streak alive - despite having had plenty of runs with multiple deaths. Short versions: A tutorial that pretty much forces a death can destigmatize it.

​@@DrZaius3141 That's because progress is progress. Not everyone can sink in hours upon hours into a game constantly because they have a mundane life outside of one single video game. The most stressful part about a zomboid run is dying after you've done so much work to make it where you are now. It's fine if you don't have anything to do the following day, but a lot of beginners tend to get dissuaded into playing Apocalypse vanilla (or just Apocalypse with no cheating mods) because the game is designed to be unfair. I'm very half-and-half as a game developer on if I should even defend this design choice because it really doesn't sit with me personally as I think it should be rewarding to win and encouraging (to a degree) to lose; but it's still good at what it does: which is to teach the player that you will die and you can only do so much to stop the end. The only problem with the tutorial is that the shout attracts more zombies than would if you shouted in the actual game, at least from what I've seen.

Its rough but not impossible, i had beaten the tutorial perior alpha 41. Foraging can still be used when you break line of sight in the woods and i used that to make a spear and wreck the whole horde that way.

very possible a lot of exploits have been fixed over the years im pretty sure the tutorial must have undegone some changes in the past aswell.@@insaneitalianhacker Also it was possible to do a lot of things with the right click command and also it seems the controller functions did also work back then by pluggin in a controller you could use all the functions.

This is wild, considering the unique behavior the zombies have in the tutorial on how quickly they get up. In addition, not being able to remove the gun in your hands forces stomping them since you don't have enough shells to do too much. Haven't played this game, but I do play Killing Floor. In that game, there's a boss your team has to fight, and after my entire team died I had to fight the boss all by myself with crappy medic guns. The boss gets progressively more aggressive and faster, I got less and less room for error. The entire fight took me 30 minutes of kiting and I won. My friends literally went afk, or pestered me about not just giving up, letting the boss win and moving onto the next map. They just don't understand: We will never accept defeat! Fight to the bitter end! 💪 It's nice to see others out there like me, though this blows my story out of the water. VERY well done! Kudos to you!

Well, the tutorial character does have a combined strength + fitness of 18, this is what makes this possible. If you tried this with a regular starting character, I doubt it could be done. You'd need twice the amount of attempts to push over a zombie and you'd be exhausted fast, adding more time to each zombie kill, exhausting you more ...
