Thanks for this video! Just a tip in case your BM3 isn’t recording from the Scenes mode, make sure an (empty) pattern is inserted into the active scene. To do this 1) tap on appropriate cell of the scene you want to record into, and then 2) tap Create Pattern. Then on the left side where you see your pattern added to the list, 3) tap on the 3 dots and increase duration accordingly. Now it will record a pattern into this active cell of the Scene. It’s actually recording into the Pattern List on the left and inserting into the cell at the same time. You can tap and hold on any cell and select Stop Track to remove the cell content. The patterns inside cells are linked to the actual pattern. So if you change the pattern by overdubbing or editing notes in one place, it’s changed everywhere.

So I have a beef with the scenes mode in that; as good as the feature is, what’s the point in it if you can’t record back into the arrangement? A la Ableton Live. So you arrange some sweet scenes and you jam out something that resembles a song but you are then limited to just playing a live set? For me, until they make it so that you can record back into the arrangement, I don’t see that it enhances workflow. Do you have any more hints to prove me wrong on this? Cheers 🤘🏼👊🏻

Maybe I'm missing something about scene mode and live playing, but I wish you could quantize for more than a single bar. For example, I'd like to be able to queue up some loops to begin playing at the start of the next 8 bar. I don't see a way to do that. I have to be ready to push play within a bar before that hits.

I just started using BM3 and they have changed the options for creating clips which is less obvious.. what i have found out is BM3 doesn't like midi files... dragging them in fails.. i think it has something to do with the type 0,1 , 2 etc.. sucks!

when i create new patterns in scene mode, how do i get them back into song mode?
@erende445 жыл бұрын
You can paste whole scene into song (by holding a scene, then a menu will pop up). Scene will be pasted in a place your playing cursor is placed now. It’s best to do it when playback is stopped

You can for that, or for a different approach to trying out mixing and matching different parts of songs with each other. It’s set up a bit like Ableton Live

Anyone making beats absolutely needs to use BM3. It is the best app. I never say that, best, I mean. I say great or fantastic but this one is the best. Just get it, learn how to use it by just using it and watching good videos like this one and. I guarantee you will agree with best.

@bsdguy5 жыл бұрын
I have answered my own question....the manual says it does. I did not see any mention of scene limits. I think I will try BM3 out. I may not need Ableton live and a MacBook pro.
@captn_hanky6 жыл бұрын
Making scenes out of a song does not make much sense to me. Making a song out of scenes is the way to go. And this is where bm3 sucks massively especially when you have an ableton live background. In bm3 there is NO real time recording of scenes into a song. Also you can not record audio in scene mode which sucks also. Btw when you record audio in song mode the effects are recorded with the signal. This results in a double processed audio signal on playback. This is a complete joke. (Maybe I am missing something here). There are so many flaws with this program but sadly it's currently the best beat tool out there. I ended up using bm3 only for beats and sync it over link with ableton.
@djpuzzleofficial6 жыл бұрын
Making scenes out of a song makes sense because you can work in song mode which resembles more of a traditional old school linear DAW pre-Ableton Live for some of us older producers who started out on DAWs like Opcode Vision and Steinberg Cubase for example. This way you can slice it up, copy/paste/duplicate etc to arrange the parts and have a nice linear representation. Some of us are more comfortable working in that environment. What I like to do is write a loop in song mode where I can see all the tracks and do some arranging there AND THEN break it out into scenes like I did in my second video ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2rVmXyNgdlspMk ) to sort of remix that loop to the point where it then becomes a full length tune. Also in the second video I record the scene performance in song mode and printed it to audio which yeah prints the effects if you have them activated during the performance however you could use AUX tracks to record the 100% wet signal on separate tracks. I did not do that in the second video because I wanted to print the effects as I already liked what I had set up. Sometimes printing effects is fun. I do it with my hardware synths when I run them through my Strymon Big Sky. Remixing audio with printed effects can sometimes inspire unique results. I'm not sure I follow what you mean by double processed. If you're referring to playing the midi track and recorded audio track simultaneously then yeah that would sound odd you might also get phasing so in that case I would just mute the source midi tracks. Now yes this app is not Ableton Live of course it doesn't claim to be but it does have a similar work flow to some degree. Getting recorded audio from song mode into a scene is pretty simple.

iPadLoops thanks. Will have a deeper look at it. I am always looking for inspirations. Ableton live is a great program but when it comes to inspirations it is not my first choice. btw I play mostly funky base guitar stuff.
