"When somewhere familiar to you feels exotic, you're winning" - that seems to encapsulate so much of what your videos are about and it's what keeps bringing me back every time you upload. Also, there's the fact that you can somehow make a bloody good story out of digging a rock out the ground...there's not too many people on KZbin who possess such a talent (nor the motivation or imagination to do so). Thanks to everyone who voted for The Backyard Adventurer in Booktopias Favourite Australian Book Award. Very cool notes about this production: Mitch and I produced this film in 4 days from start to finish/shoot to upload (Mitch still refuses to drink coffee- he’s very pure, which is actually pretty hard arse). This is our quickest turnaround by far, way quicker than even the haircut film (which was really just a 45min shoot!). Big insights: no reshoots/shoot to edit/do multiple takes while filming/running; get your focus right (Mitch killed it, I just push ‘on’); trust the story; have fun; get good help (Mitch's partner Kelly and sister Sherb on socials and photos) and shack up to an understanding/hardworking wife or girlfriend so that you and your mate can lock yourselves in an old garden shed for a few days. Lastly, we split the film into parts to split up the storytelling/edit to keep ourselves from drifting. In all, it was a bloody excellent, but not quite sustainable form of filmmaking.

So I’m right at 4:00 in, I think this rock is gonna be waaaaay more work than Beau is expecting. On the farm we had a small rock in the orchard, and one day when our friends were out with their landscaping setup to help pipe and fill a ditch we decided to get the bobcat over to see about getting this pesky rock out of the orchard. We came back the next day with a crane, and a dump truck of soil. Edit: I’m pleasantly surprised for Beau lol, never really know how these things will go
