That is cool as hell, a 62 that looks stock, except the tires, and wheels, that is drivable! I bet the purists wouldn't like it, but I sure do. Especially the smaller steering wheel! It has to be a kick in the ass to drive. Your grand dad has great taste!

That is a super sharp looking 62. I love the 63-67s but the 62s are right there with them. It is so cool that all your family has a need for speed, and even cooler that you fulfill that need with Corvettes. Tell your Grandpa not to fear the hp but to embrace it, Paul Newman was still active in racing at 76. Great job on a beautiful car. Be safe.

Wow, you know how to squeeze the HP out of an engine. I was so impressed by the numbers. My question is; Why are you not driving a Corvette? It's a family thing George, get on board man. And who made that comment about too much HP for a 73 year old man?

There are three different LS3 crate engines. This is definitely not the stock LS3. It's likely the one with the Chevy Performance Hot Cam. Also, the air filter isn't robbing power. That red cover is holding engine heat. With it off and the hood open, the engine is pulling in cool air.
@HorsepowerDepot2 жыл бұрын
Dyno pull without the cover was no different. Without the filter was huge power.
@gloriamaletta86672 жыл бұрын
My new GM performance LS3 495 horsepower crate made 430 horsepower to the wheels at 6200rpm and 410 torque at 5000rpm running on E85 in a 2011 Camaro SS with a built 6L80e automatic transmission with a Circle D 4200rpm stall converter so I'm thinking this is not the 430 horsepower LS3 crate engine but l could be wrong camshaft specs on the 495 horsepower motor are 219 duration intake 228 exhaust .525 lift for both lobe centerline is 112 the stock 430 horsepower camshaft is 204 duration intake 211 duration exhaust with .551 lift intake .525 lift exhaust lobe centerline 117 most cars with the stock LS3 makes peak horsepower 430 at 5800-5900rpm and 420 torque at 4600rpm these are crankshaft numbers vs 495 and 473 for the hot cam LS3 + 65 horsepower +53 torque at the crankshaft and the 495 crate runs idles very close to the stock LS3 with a ever so slight chop that's barely noticeable to most people it's fairly smooth but it has much better torque and horsepower throughout the entire operating range from 2700-6600rpm than the 430 horsepower LS3 does I think the camshaft that comes in the LS3 495 horsepower crate engine is what GM should have used on the stock LS3 but for emissions and maybe 2 miles to the gallon at most is what stopped them
@nowayjose596 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, there are different versions of the LS3 crate motor and this one most likely is one with a larger cam than the "stock" version. Are you running flex fuel or straight E85 on your setup? I've heard differing opinions on how much E85 is worth on the LS motors (the direct injection LT engines definitely benefit from it though) so I'd be curious to know what your experience has been like. Thanks.
@gloriamaletta8667 Жыл бұрын
@@nowayjose596 430 - 495 - 525 most likely the 495 l have one in my 5th gen Camaro they make 400 foot pounds of torque or more from 2700-6200rpm at the crankshaft and it pulls strong to the 6600rpm redline and has a ever so slight chop at idle hardly noticeable vs the 430 LS3 version
@gloriamaletta8667 Жыл бұрын
@@nowayjose596 E85 crate engine has LS3 CNC ported and milled heads so compression is 11 to 1 E85 is worth 25-30 horsepower because you can bump up the timing advance without worrying about detonation good E85 is at or over 100 octane and could approach 105 octane much higher than pump 93 and it needs to be tuned for E85 my car has a ZL1 fuel pump and injectors are need to flow enough E85 it's more involved than just a flex kit and tune you need a upgraded fuel pump and injectors to feed enough E85 to see gains

Popping that filter off must have leaned it out quite a bit ? or did the EFI figure it out and keep the same mixture with the only difference being able to breath better? Like G-pa said: That's enough' !

The efi had a closed loop mode. It will adjust fueling via the 02 sensor. So it was still the same air fuel ratio as the rest of the pulls.

Drive the car with that combination and your opinion might change, so much more driveable than a 'factory' restoration
