I remember that I met the Logemann brothers on an aquaristic exhibition in Duisburg in Germany 15 or 20 years ago. They just started their shrimp business. I bought very few white bee shrimps from their small booth and the shrimps were very expensive at that time. The concept and the term "aquascaping" was not invited yet. Nice to see how their business have developed!!! By the way, on the same exhibition I bought a small amount of Weeping moss from a dutch plant breeder, I never saw such moss before. To this time only Java moss was known in Germany. The moss grew very well in my tank and I was happy to make some money by frequently selling Weeping moss on eBay. This was very nice for a student but my small "business" ended with the beginning of professional aquascaping online shops.

The shop is beautiful. Their business model is similar to Aquarium Co-Op in the USA with online sales dominating. It's smart business. Excellent quality shrimp. The 10 Euro tree the gentleman showed you was pretty. I'd like to have it. My favorite scape is the last of the small ones you showed us. It had the top of the hardscape coming above the rim and the little path going under a branch with celestial pearl danios swimming within. I could just sit and stare at it. I also liked the largest tank in the store. Nice layout. It could use a trim, but I totally understand what it is like to need more staff than you have. Safe travels.

Hi George, need a bit of advice - I have an Oase Filtosmart 100 on my tank and I’ve been trying to get clear hoses to fit for that clean look. I’m currently using a 12mm connection to the filter and my 13mm glassware, it’s a secure fit to my glassware but not so much on my filter connection when tightening the hose screw connectors it doesn’t fit really tight and has come off once or twice and I’m paranoid it will happen again... please can you help/advise what hose I need? Thank you.

Could be sundadanio axelrodi, it's considered to be the only shrimp safe fish. It's quite rare, so I think garnelen Haus would have it.

Hey, I have a BARE BOTTOM PLANTED TANK WITH NO FISH in it. There are only anubias and bucephalandra attached to lava rock. I SEE brown organic waste (like dirt) at the bottom of the tank. Even when I clean it during weekly maintenance, it will come back again by next water change. I don't have fish or any other invertebrates in the tank and no feeding. My question is How is that brown organic waste(like dirt) building up at bottom of my bare bottom tank?? do plants produce waste ??
@GeorgeFarmerStudios5 жыл бұрын

@@rhickford7333 Thanks for the update... also can other smaller fish like guppies be kept along with shrimp?? I will be setting up my very first tank by the end of the month.. starting off a planted tank once its established I'll adding the some Shrimp, snail's and a few of the smaller fish.
@jefferythomas89735 жыл бұрын
@Rick Hickford I really admire your work and appreciate the dedication. pardon me if im throwing a lot of questions at you.. but getting some professional advice means a lot to me.. so the last couple question for today.. what plans can I put for green carpeting effect.? javafurns and which other plant can I use as a beginner?
@rhickford73335 жыл бұрын
@@jefferythomas8973 not a problem! You can keep a lot of the nano fish with shrimp and they will not bother the adults, however, the babies are fair game. I would suggest you add lots of decorations and especially mosses to protect them. Guppies are used a lot in third world countries as mosquito larvae control as they are so good at it! I would suggest: celestial pearl danios, least killifish, exclamation point rasbora, chili rasbora, oto Catfish and sundadanio axelrodi (this is perhaps the best choice). If you are concerned with breeding shrimp and getting maximum survival rates, it would be best to go shrimp only 🙂
@rhickford73335 жыл бұрын
@@jefferythomas8973 for carpeting plants I personally don't use them in a shrimp setup, but I've seen people have success with Staurogyne Repens. I use plants that attach to décor, such as java fern, Anubias and mosses. The décor is just driftwood arranged nicely. The cheapest moss would be java fern, but perhaps the nicest looking could be Christmas, phoenix or weeping mosses.
