@@MDFishTanks These are incredible! I've just discovered aquascaping as of a few days ago and feel inspired to start my own tank. I have no concept of what kind of maintenance is required for one of these, how much time would I expect to spend on say a 22 gallon tank?

Marc's style is so cool and a nice contrast but also pairing with what you do George. I think with all the concerns we face with climate change focusing more on low tech could be a way for us to have less impact on energy usage and consumption. Also his use of cooler water fish and ones that are relatively easy to breed just seems like a sweet way to go. (Of course with the exception of his display tank but he has some nice looking discuss and rummy nose). His aquariums in general have a really natural feel to them. Furthermore, Marc has a great knack for saving money, for example his DIY and discount lights. I have done both low and high tech and enjoy both, but Marc has really inspired me to see if I can get into some even more aesthetically pleasing low tech when I change layouts and equipment in the future. Both of you should keep up some collaboration and friendly competition as this all goes towards community building and is in my opinion one of the nicest things about our hobby. Great video George and good work in reaching out to Marc. Both of you are doing lovely stuff.

You tube showed me MD after watching one of your vids George, so I took a peak and subbed right away( few weeks ago), cool to see someone so enthousiastic and successful. This is something we can all try sometime , an ADA setup is harder to achieve ( costs). When you have a tank it's nice to experiment with MD s setups. I like DIY but it's gotta look neat and tidy, nicely finished like Marc s. Great vid

Fantastic video, as always, George! And shoutout/thanks to MD Fish Tanks as well! Pardon the lengthiness of this comment but... Wow. I've just, just gotten into the hobby; no scapes of my own yet. However, I've been subscribed to both of you for a short while now and binging all your videos in my free time. This video upload was perfectly timed for me! So great to see you two together. I know spreading the knowledge and inspiring others is important to you both, and I can certainly say that I have been lucky enough to receive that from your content. One of the things that stood out to me was what you mentioned @ 20:00 . I, of course, was inspired by Mark's style of no CO2 (and other low-tech choices), but the water in my area is very hard. I'm glad I heard this before trying it with a ton of expensive plants in one of my early projects! Also, 20:36 discussion about the betta fight was hilarious! Haha, "......moving on." Perfect. How do I enter to win a free, complete DOOA aquascape from you, George? Did I miss how you plan to decide that? If I'm in the states, am I still eligible? :D P.S. My favorite scape of Mark's is the bigger non co2, no filter, no fert tank. I don't know how he does it, but it looks amazing. Goals.

I was very interested in the discussion on the water parameters. I have medium-hard water here in Hinckley and no problems. I have always expected crypts to melt but they never have yet. I really like Marc's low tech approach. I have 2 low tech tanks and one high tech and it is the high tech that gives the most anxiety.

An amazing video! Have been following MD for about a month now ever since I got my nano tank which has just fish now. And I got inspired by MD and his low tech ways. Planning on my first aquascape, fingers crossed. Spent most of my evening today trying to find the best filter for my aquascape tank. Internal filters are said to have quite a flow and hang ons are more recommended. However, now am inspired and convinced and I want to experiment like MD :) and go low tech. No filter. No CO2. Just some basic fert. Planting soil. And plants, java fern. Lets see how it goes :) wish me luck :)
