The books were a ride for sure. I recomend reading them before you see this so you have a better understanding and context. The sons book was very graphic and i doubt half of it made it into the movie. This seems like it goes more along with the dads book with a little of nics story thrown in for a little bit of context. Still should be an amazing film regardless and is sure to win awards.

I watched this movie a day before my grandfather. He was an alcoholic for many years but he succeeded and I remembered moments when he was telling us to not do the same mistakes he made, he was not embarrassed, he was an example of not giving up. I cried so much during this moving while he was dying, I recieved a call a few hours later he was dead.

I watched this movie last night and let me tell you, this movie will have you captivated from the start and it will have you crying. I was changed after I saw this movie and it takes a while to let the whole movie sink in because it was so powerful and hits you with every emotion possible. The acting is beyond Oscar level and I really hope this movie gets the recognition it deserves. I would 100000% recommend watching this movie. It would also be smart to have tissues ready.

Just saw this movie last night and I have to say, it was terrific. Not only because the acting was incredible, but it really showed how addiction really affects an entire family. Yes, it focused on Nic's addiction to drugs, but it showed how hard his family, especially father, fought for his future sobriety. Not only that, but the film exhibited trial and error, and tough love. I relate to this film heavily. My father is an addict and growing up in a household with one, really is a whole different life experience. I have fought for my dad my entire life, and at some point, you get tired of fighting for someone who can only change through themselves. I am glad Nic is 8 years sober and hope this film can really show people of all ages the consequences of drugs, as well as showing how the addict is responsible for themselves and you can't always help them, they have to help themselves.

This was the most authentic portrayal of addiction I've seen on film. I read both books a decade ago and thought I could watch the movie in the theater. I cried so hard after 2 hours, I had to leave. I've never had to leave a film before. I saw every addict I've ever loved and scarcely I saw myself. I eventually finished it from home. But for whatever critical praise it got, it wasn't enough. Bravo to everyone involved with bringing this story to the screen. If you are struggling with addiction, know you are loved and here for a reason!!

I thought reading both books and would prepare me to see this movie, but I had to leave the theater in tears after 2 hours. Is the one of most authentic portrayals of addiction I've ever seen on film. I saw every addict or alcoholic I've loved and scarily, I saw a bit of myself too. I eventually saw the ending at home. This is top notch from the writing, directing, acting, cinematography, set design, etc. It feels like you're watching real life. I'm shocked this didn't get Oscar nominations.

As a struggling writer at 21, I know what it feels like to think that you are a nobody, and that using drugs to make the emotional pain go away will make everything better. I was born on July 28, 1998. I was born 28 weeks early, and because of my premature birth, I have cerebral palsy on my left arm and leg. I started smoking weed at the end of 8th grade. I had no friends until high school, when a few kids found out I was into getting high and "chilling". I was, and still am, a loser, because I hid myself from the rest of the world and smoked weed with the stoners all day. It felt SO GOOD to just get high and not think about how I was doing nothing with my life. After a while, I started experimenting with psychedelics, (shrooms, acid) and because of my physical disability, no girls would ever talk to me. So that made the shitty feelings much worse. For those 4 years of high school, I was basically skipping class and getting drunk and high pretty much from the moment I woke up, to the moment I went to bed. I never used any hard drugs (crack, meth, cocaine, heroin, etc.) THANK GOD. However, I still had no self-control. Two years ago, I decided to quit for good. I struggled at first, but then I came to the realization that no matter what negativities you are dealing with in your life, the only way to push past it is with self discipline and control. Sure, your family loves you and they want to help, but if you don't stay grounded and focused, what good does it honestly do for you? ONLY YOU can find your way through the maze. Your loved ones can't find it for you.

I read Beautiful Boy, Tweak & We All Fall Down... while these intense books have a theme of overcoming addiction, the most significant focus of their story for me is The Love a Father has for his Son... the Love a Parent has for a child is WAY special! Beautiful Boy is now playing on Amazon Prime. After watching this movie for the first time after since I saw it at the theater. I noticed the difference between the two character portrayal in this movie and Call Me by Your Name. I judge a actor by his ability to play a totally different character than the last one I saw them play. I can honestly say these two characters are as different as night and day. Timothee Chalamet was able to accomplish the task. His performance in both vehicles are outstanding. Steve Carnell delivered as he always do. The story line is real to life. It makes the tragic truth about addiction a heartbreaking experience on the parents and the tormented child that they can’t help. A testament to hard love. Giving the addict one choice. They have to want to change. You can’t make them.

I can't wait to see Steve and Amy on screen together again. Their chemestry in the office was outstanding and I believe, even though they don't seem together in the film, their scenes will be among the best in the movie.

Timothee' has an awesome agent. That individual is booking roles left and right for him and he wins his auditions, also the audience on the roles he portrays. Great trailer and cast and crew.

Parents need to understand that addiction is hard and getting over it is even harder, I’ve been sober for like 8 months now and it’s still hard when I was 15 I broke my arm and had to get plates put into my arm and I was prescribed norco and Vicodin for the pain I ended up abusing these and developed a very bad addiction all the way up til I turned 19 and during this time my mom kicked me out and refuses to talk to me even now if it wasn’t for my brother I’m 110% sure I would’ve been dead so if you know someone suffering with an addiction don’t pressure them and don’t rush them, recovery takes time

As a teen I never struggled with meth or heroin addiction but I did struggle with pills and taking so much adderal everyday that I had overdosed a few times. Also taking acid that was actually a component of NBOMe, and MDMA and Mushrooms, and snorting anything I could get my hands on. What’s really sad is with our generation it’s very common to get addicted to drugs and some of us overcome it, but some don’t.
