A change of pace for this video! I gather my bearings and try to plot out my summer. Work to be done yet a social balance must be met. A visit to see some beautiful old cabins has me getting motivated for future projects.
British Columbia at its best. The viewer can expect some twists and turns in this one.

First thing is first, don't shorten your videos. We will let you know when we get bored and want shorter content. Right now I have no problem just watching you walk around and talk at your property for 35 min. I love it, it's what I look most forward every week (as far as content I watch goes). Also, everyone can help him out by liking the video, that really helps get his video recommended.

Many youtubers make content then split this up so they have extra videos ready to go. With this you could make an hour video and break it up over two weeks, keep doing this until you have five or six weeks of video built up. This way you can take breaks if needed, or if you have an emergency you don't have to worry about breaking your revenue stream. Loving the videos and cheering you on.

just wanted to comment and say , your channel is very entertaining, my wife and I live on an old homestead and we enjoy watching your channel, glad to see you got your boat back, that river worries me, you need a cable across or a very sturdy rope, I would tie it up high enough, not to impede boat traffic and you could always have a rope hanging down on a pulley, to keep you safely attached, to you or your boat, that bear would have been toast on my homestead, I have rogue bears that have destroyed my bee hives in the past, so they are not allowed to trespass, safety first, also your garden save all that greenery (grass etc.)that you cut for a compost pile, or to bank your potatoes, any garden needs a fence, even a pole fence, anyway, wish you all the best, Shawn, stay safe and we look forward to your new cabin and all your projects

You need to pick up a couple garden and lawn racks for the ‘homestead’, they will come in very handy. Also you might take a few ‘trash’ logs and lay they out to frame your garden plot so you will know where it is and won’t accidentally step in it. Next time you are in town, you might want to check out the cost of wheelbarrows and maybe get one, the will help you move things around the ‘homestead’

When your working on your cabin or making your beams, maybe just set up a nice wide shot and let it record, then put it in the video on a time lapse. Maybe just a decent stash of supplies across the river. Basically something they'll give you food and give you the materials to build a shelter if necessary. That way you could wait out a freeze up or something in the winter. If you are cut off you have something to work with, but it's also not as involved as building a cabin. That way it gives you more time on the trail. Personally, I would prioritize the trail because the main cabin can be pushed off to next year. Yes, living in the little shack will suck but you will survive ! Hey I'm just the guy on the couch here. So you do what you're doing sir cuz you're doing great !!!

I love his energy and the videos. Perhaps putting up some infrastructure for that garden would be very helpful. My experience has been that every insect, bird and critter is going to eat any garden. I'm not even sure a solar powered electric fence would work totally, but it would help. I have cattle panel fencing, netting, scarecrows, wind spinners and cat food cans and lids jingle jangling and (obviously) cats... which kill the rodents which thereby discourages snakes from hanging out on my property. I still lose some vegetables...yes we have black bears... I'm in the Appalachian mountains of Western Maryland.

Looking forward to next week. A lot of people don’t realize up north we don’t stop for winter, we embrace it. You have tons of time to get that cabin dried in bro. Smart call on the emergency cabin. Eventually maybe line your garden with some logs, and every fall load it up with leaves, and head to your poplar stands and take a thin layer of that soil, it will be nutrient rich with decomposed leaves. Good luck , enjoy the journey bro.

It takes weeks but you can use solarization to clear ground. For next year. Spread thick black landscaping plastic where you want the garden. Put rocks or heavy things around the edges to keep it flat. In a month probably two everything under the plastic will turn to mulch due to lack of moisture and sun. It kills everything under the plastic. You might be able to put a couple layers down before winter.
@FromThePrairies

Covering the ground is a good idea, but don't use plastic. Use burlap or cardboard which will eventually decompose, unlike the plastic.

Nice that you 'found' (or got) the boat back :) Good to see good people are still available! I have been editing videos for (almost) my entire life now and have developed a way to edit fast. Main thing (for me) is to make sure my footage does not require much editing. Give myself visual clues where something needs to be done (cut or something). (clapping for example, so you can 'see' the waveform happening). Don't record too long clips. It takes forever to transfer and go through them. My edits are done in minutes, but are way less lengthy and have no talking, so that makes a big difference. But the points are valid. Make your footage good from the start and give yourself clues when something needs to be done in post. If a shot fails or is not worth it, (for example) put your hand on the lens, so you can see quickly the shot was not worth going through. You will figure out what works for you, but this is how I got crazy fast in editing.

$400 a night for BB? No way. Stay in your tent for sure. Your boat looks useable as is but i think you could pop those sides out with 4x4s and jacks or porta powers. For your jet motor you should look for one thats been scraped and then rob the parts for repair. When in was bear hunting in Ontario years ago i busted up my lower unit jumping a beaver dam. I had to row about 3 miles back to my cabin. Next day i drove to Vermilion Bay to a Johnson outbord dealer. He had a lot of wrecked outbboards on hand. I was able to buy a lower unit for a very reasonable price. I was back bear hunting the next day! Keep up the great work!!!

Remember that a garden is a lifetime, not a quick project so don't get discouraged. One thing I learned over many years of gardening is that the wild critters are born with the knowledge that the two-legged animals with the thumbs are an excellent supplier of good things to eat. If you don't securely protect your new garden with fencing you are unlikely to ever get much production from it. You've never mentioned rabbits but they must be around, mice and other critters too. They're just waiting for your veggies to grow.

Great video. Very interesting. Ecstatic you managed to get your boat back. I also recommend a fence around your garden to keep the animals out. Keep following your anazing dream. Every day is a new adventure. Such a great life you are living.

Shawn, as the master of your project it is the process whether crafting the cabin or cleaning the trail that carries the medium. While its not a dialog, it is a narrative, describing the experience, the work, and then the outcome. Essentially It remains you and you are finding the path forward. I like to say Rome was not built in a day, if it was it wouldn’t be Rome!

Appreciate your efforts. You can take that same content and provide two weeks of videos. That puts you one week ahead to focus on the project if not running around. It also could provide the break from working if you need. Real glad your boat and motor was found. Hope with a little attention that motor isn't cracked and can be repaired or rebuilt. Nice Canada Day celebration

The tall purple plants are wild lupine.. and the red ones are Indian paintbrush .. I saw some wild roses in there too.. The White flower you said that was an insect repellent I think that's Queen Anne's lace or yarrow... So glad you found your boat motor..✌️🇨🇦

Gardening tip. keep everything you have and compost it, and with the small logs use them as edges or make small raised beds. it will take a long time to compost but it is always good to have a dedicated compost area that will make good dirt for you. Also fence your garden to keep animals out.
