Dream what you want to dream, nothing says you can't make it a reality. I've just started my channel I have 15 subscribers and I'm over the moon ... I'm really just starting out with turning and everything and just want to make someone smile at the moment, that's all that matters. I enjoy watching you work and thank for sharing. I also don't understand why some people seem to think they have a right to dictate what you should do, it,s your channel, you're being gracious enough to share!

I seem to turn mostly cherry and walnut, both of these have a fine grain and turn out beautiful. I got some Acks polishing paste, I really like it and was surprised that in the CNY woodworkers club that some members has not even heard of it. Popular finishes in the club are shellac, Osmo (expensive) and wipe on poly (gasp).

Nice "head "sized bowl. Love watching your channel which I have subscribed to. To everyone else out there in Utubeland, I always measure the moisture in my wood. Wood will move enough just hollowing out the bowl but further drying will cause more warping to the point the bowl will rock on it's foot. Not good. Wood dries about 3/4 to 1 inch per year so after 7 months you stock is not properly dried. I almost always use a tenon and rarely a mortise unless i have a thin piece of wood. I put the chuck on belore I turn the wood around to make sure the chuck doesn't' wobble. If it wobbles, I use a spindle gouge to fine tune the tenon and retry the chuck. Then when you turn the bowl around it won't hardly wobble. Especially important on thin rimmed bowls or puting on a fancy lip . I use the same Nova chuck and it works perfectly fine. In fact, I have many because I get sick and tired of changing out the jaws for different size tenons. My rule of thumb is the tenon is 35% of the diameter of the bowl and at least 3/16 - 1/4 in. deep. No Failures!

Well turned, great bowl. I find the simple ones sells the best, esp. if customers can use them. I don't often sell pieces that are just mantle pieces, I think it's due to people worried about them getting damaged, and they want something they can use.

I find cherry hard to turn. when dried it is dense and hard. In part my difficulties are probably due to the 'midi' lathe I use; not just enough mass to deal with the material. Nice bowl. Always instructive to watch and learn.

I use the G-3 and the EasyWood, as well. And of course, shop made (jam chucks, rests, etc.). Like them all for various applications. I am retired and not a production turner so the fast jaw change feature is a non-starter for me as a selling point. I'd get the Robust curved rest if money wasn't a factor but I already have an S rest that works well enough for what I need. Looks like this blank was wetter on the inside but that goes with the territory. Did you buy the neg rake scraper or regrind a standard scraper? I do turn a fair amount of cherry because I do much of my furniture work in cherry and use offcuts as turning blanks. You'll get to 100k because you are a very friendly presence with interesting projects. Sorry for the long comment but it's Sunday and I have a fresh cup of coffee. Lovely chapeau, by the bye!
