+MrArtist2013 No worries wherever you go in Japan. Osaka and Kyoto's crime rate is low. In Japan, you don't have to worry about it. The only crime I've heard of is tourist going to nightclub areas and get pestered by Nigerians to enter their premise, get drunk and ripped off with a very expensive bill when you're awake. On where to stay, I've been using AirBnB for Japan accommodations. Tried it 3 times over 2 years. It's the best experience.

It always amazes me how much I learn from watching your videos. Those gates were beautiful, reminded me of a Japanese movie I watched. I couldn't help but watch this again, as I absolutely LUV noodles :D I think it's about time Ying would need to introduce and comment on her dish instead of letting Mark digging into her food; what with the fact that Mark takes BIG bites out of her plate. Poor girl, no wonder she's so skinny :D Good food videos, world class already.

Hi Mark, you mentioned that the shrine was very peaceful in the morning. Shrines and Temples in Japan are also very peaceful in the middle of the day. If you enter them, you can barely hear the sounds of the city not so far away. I once asked a Shinto priest about this and he told me that it was because of the wood used to make the Shrines and Temples and the surrounding trees. He said that the wood blocks the noise. As he explained it, "if it is quiet, the Gods can hear your prayers. What point is it if the Gods cannot hear what you are saying?"

@catnip31419 жыл бұрын
I'm not going to complain you, but I wish the myth won't spread too much. We slurp noodles just because it tastes better, and it is not considered rude, that's all. You don't have to slurp. Do you eat quietly if the noodles taste bad? 麺を啜っても料理人に感謝を示したことにはなりません。
@k_______p9 жыл бұрын
+catnip3141 I have to agree with you, it means more like you're really enjoying the food but not everyone does that. Im one of those who dont slurp noodles, and it is NOT impolite.

I somehow managed to forget to go to Fushimi Inari when I visited Kyoto and I'm still kicking myself over it. Awesome looking place. Really came to love soba on my last trip as there was a small shop around the corner from my hotel with a tremendous selection of hot soba dishes. I did visit Nishiki Market and was amazed at the variety of foods available. That comfort food place's menu looked so good. Love stuff like that. Oyakodon is great but I still prefer katsudon. The katsu curry looked damn good as its usually my fave order at curry houses like Coco's. Kinda surprised Ying hasn't hit you yet for snitching her food. LOL
