Thanks for uploading, been a subscriber for a while now. Just downloaded a T800 for my ATS as thats all I can drive these days.Lost a leg 10 years ago so now confined to a wheelchair. A very nice looking rig. Cheers, Mike from Adelaide South Australia.

Hi Mike, thanks for subscribing. Much appreciated. I've yet to try ATS, but it looks enjoyable and realistic. One day soon. I've been chair-bound way too long myself, MX accident, but I do what I can to seek outdoor enjoyment. I film big rigs, but no longer drive. Only drive in my dreams. Thanks for the compliments and for watching! Stay cool. It's 32C here and I'm roasting. Cheers, mate! Sofa from Vernon, BC.

@@coolbigrigs Hi Sofa, My rig is an 8X4 midlift, with 600hp Cat and an Eaton Fuller 13 speed with retarder ( run auto as I can't use a clutch). The trailer is a Fontaine 75 ton, 44ft flatdeck triaxle, with triaxle jeep, and a triaxle rear steerable a bit like a reverse jeep setup. Not sure what that is called. The load I haul is a 146,00 lb dozer with blade, all over from New Mexico to Washington. I gave up driving 3 years ago due to failing eysight. I am 72 years old and get around in apowerchair and scooter. Cheers, Mike

Thank you for the kind words. I enjoyed filming this lowbed and dozer. Really enjoyed editing the footage, as well. I'm grateful the skies remained somewhat light. Had the sky darkened at a faster rate I don't think I could've captured the loading very well. Thanks for watching nthe video.

He parallel parked that Kenworth like a boss. And in the beginning it looked liked the last tag axle on the trailer was a cab remote operated steering axle?
@coolbigrigs
@coolbigrigs 7 жыл бұрын
It was pretty cool watching him parallel park that heavy hauler. Wasn't much room between the yellow metal barriers and the Dozer itself. He did it in one swoop. That's one gorgeous T8 KW! Thanks for watching the video!

Maine Man the booster or tag axle as its called sometimes on the rear of the trailer usually is not cab operated. They usually just turn on their own. The ones on trail king trailers lime that are not cab controled. Not sure about all the other companys out there.

Lee Hilton I recently saw one a tag axle come off an oversize truck. It stopped in the middle of the road while the truck kept going until they could come back and get it, so it made me wonder, what is the purpose of it?

Hi Wayne, thanks for watching my videos. Wish I had newer lowboy content to post but the “annual logging show” was moved 3 years ago from my city to another. Bummer! Certainly miss filming the new equipment each year. I have many videos posted in my “Lowboy” playlist of loaded lowboy’s spotted on streets and highways with the possibility of goosenecks flipped down. Nothing up close. Sorry. I greatly appreciate your viewership. Again, thanks for watching.👍😎

nice truck. Just wondering about the trailer. I noticed you had some flip downs at the front of the trailer for the Jeep and the Trailer it's self, When would you use those king pins? and why would you use them over the ones that you have set up at the end of the video?
@coolbigrigs
@coolbigrigs 7 жыл бұрын
Good question, Anthony. What you're referring to are "flip neck extensions." The majority of flip extensions are powered by small gas generators. Say, Honda. Some are powered by good ole hand crank. Extensions are utilized when hauling extremely heavy equipment. When the jeep's extension's lowered it extends the jeep further back which separates the jeep and truck axles allowing more weight to be hauled. The trailer's flip extension, when lowered, allows for a tandem or tridem jeep to be utilized rather than the single axle, thus extreme weight can be hauled legally. The flip extensions remained up during this haul because even though this dozer's heavy it's not heavy enough to utilize flip extensions. I have a video of a flip being used in an upcoming video I'll post soon. Thanks for watching the video! Your viewership's appreciated .,

Well done video. Thanks. I'm intrigued by the cable-spool equipment on the dozer. Is it for skidding logs?
@coolbigrigs
@coolbigrigs 7 жыл бұрын
No, not for skidding logs. This very bulldozer with the dual spool winch system is for steep slope logging. This ROB (Remote Operated Bulldozer) dozer sits unmanned atop steep slopes. The dozer, acting as anchor, tethers its dual spools of rope (cable) to a fellerbuncher below on the slope. The fellerbuncher operator has control of the ROB winches, controlling the amount of rope needed as he makes his way up & down cutting trees. Any further questions, please ask. Thanks for watching the video!

It for when logging equipment work on steep hill or deep steep drop off , use cable winch on the dozer to pull up or cable off equipment down or up a steep hill .

What your maximum allowable axle weight for the three axle? In Idaho on black route I’m good for 70k for tridem. I always see three axle trailers with the extra tag on load that I can do with my three. I hope this question makes since lol
@coolbigrigs
@coolbigrigs 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Idaho Heavy Haul, I apologize for the delayed reply. The max weight we are allowed is 64,000 pounds and that's with a max weight permit. If we run the extra long spread with that tag axle on the back we can run an additional 24,000. Thanks for watching.

@coolbigrigs
@coolbigrigs 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for subscribing. I hope there are videos in the playlist that you'll enjoy. Regarding finding employment in the lowboy field, presuming you have the proper licensing, all I can suggest is this. Find employment with a trucking firm that runs a lowboy in amongst their other rigs that you're familiar with. Get experience with the lowboy or swamp on heavy hauls, if possible. Companies want experienced lowboy drivers so it's best to lean from other lowboy drivers first, build knowledge and experience, then hopefully an opening will come about somewhere. Good luck.

Yall like those aspen lowboy trailers up there. We made some simular to those with the drive up rear at trail king when i was there. I think they were goin to Canada. Nice videos also man. I'm a fan of big trucks and equipment, I guess thats why I'm trying to get back into welding the trailer up.
@coolbigrigs
@coolbigrigs 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! I, too, greatly enjoy big rigs and HD equipment. Western Canadian lowboy/lowbed operators buy Aspen because it's a quality product constructed not too far from this area. The "Beavertail" (Ramped tailend) is a Canadian invention which debuted back in the 1950s. Beavertail's come in quite handy when there's no need to detach the gooseneck. Just drive up and over the back, if the piece of heavy equipment is able. I am envious of your welding skills. Hope you get back to welding sooner than later. I appreciate your viewership! Thanks for watching!
