I saw orcas just a few weeks ago, the experience of a lifetime! (This is the resident pod by the way)

New Zealand orca are constantly on the move, so you just have to spend a lot of time on the water anywhere on the coast and hope for the best. I saw this same pod in January 2011 in Waihau Bay, which is halfway down the North Island from Rangiputa. In the same area I've seen orca a few times (nothing like this, though) and it has never been the same pod.

These videos are so awesome! You're so lucky to have this experience :) Thank you also for having your motors off and not chasing the orca or trying to swim with them, it shows real respect for the animals and is probably why you had such a long and calm encounter with them. :)

They are such beautiful majestic creatures. I wish I could've experienced something like this. Gorgeous male orca, although looks like he might have been ostracized from the pod. The baby though looks amazing and in the first video is so playful.

one thing about Orcas is its Always safe to go in the water, cause we all know sharks will bounce the moment they hear them lmao
@Colstonewall8 жыл бұрын
Hey, you laugh at the end of your comment, but you're 100% correct. I would feel completely safe in the water with ORCA around. They have a long history of protecting and even saving humans from Sharks and drownings. And even Great Whites are terrified of them and will flee the area.
@shanebarnet13118 жыл бұрын
Chris Kavanagh i only laugh because its ironic that one can be safe in the water just because a more dominant predator is in the area. But yes you're right, They show campassion for us ugly hairless apes, trying to swim in their ocean. An orca has never attacked a human in the wild. EVER.

Chris Kavanagh ive been fortunate enough to share the water with these amazing animals many times. Im from tofino bc which is home to some of the biggest pods in the world.

Oh yes I love them ..they are so smart. This is how it should be not in a park for humans intertament.

@@shanebarnet1311 There is one case, in 1979, where a surfer got bitten by an orca. The speculation is that a young orca mistook the guy in a wetsuit for a seal.

Sorye Moments 100% sure this isn't Ben.Ben's dorsal fin sliced when run over a boat in 1998! Now half of the fin folds permanently over his left side.
