This was a really cool lesson! I was wondering if you had one on tri-tones? dB

Great sounding chords! I play very similar voicing but find it tricky if you play higher up the keyboard as it sounds very bright, for instance Amb5-D alt-Gm. Would you still play same shape or some type of inversion? Thanks
@mDecksMusic25 күн бұрын
Sure, you can always play inversions if it gets too high in the register

How is a flat minor the two chord? How do I know what note to start the voices in the trouble clef? If the D minor seven flat five has a flat 13 as a tension why isn’t that written in the chord symbol? Dmin7(b5 b9). And as far as these “quartel” voicings go, you’re telling us that you’re building the upper structure sound by stacking fourths… does that mean you can use perfect fourths, diminished fourths, or augmented fourths, but only if that configuration would give you an available chord tone or tension? And I’ve always been taught that intervals in the bass and tenor voices should not be written so close together as that minor third you have in the C minor six chord simply because it makes it too muddy. I love your stuff! But this particular example doesn’t make any sense to me. And finally, perhaps I missed it, but could you please put a link in the text portion of your post so that we can click through to the fundamentals that you’re referring to? I bought the course, but it’s so much information that I wouldn’t begin to know where to look for quartels. Also, Abmin is spelled Ab Cb Eb. Or are you spelling it with the B natural as an enharmonic spelling so that we are reading a G chord with an easier to recognize B natural as the third of the G chord?

1. in a minor key the 2 is a m7b5 chord. 2. We show that the bottom note in the treble is the b7 of the chord 3. In jazz we rarely show all the tensions (that's more like a rock or pop approach) 4. Quartals are usually perfect 4ths (otherwise we would mention altered quartals) 5. The low interval limit starts to apply below the C on the 2nd space in bass clef) 6. We have an entire course on quartals, we explain all the concepts mdecks.com/piano.phtml 7. That's why we said the minor mode is tough to read. Had we used the correct spelling you would've seen lots of double sharps and flats, and natural notes spelled as sharps or flats. I hope that was helpful. Thanks for your feedback.
