The plywood: maybe it originally had a brass or copper strip along the side, but they replaced it because it was missing pieces or became damaged. And paint will stick a lot better on wood. Amazing restoration job. This little table is a real gem and absolutely deserved a skillful restauration.

Stunning work. The intricate details are beautiful with the piece. I think even some gold acrylic paint on the details would make it pop more, but with what you did for a simple restoration was great. Oh, I LOVE this restoration! I have 2 restorations that I am going to be taking on. One of them is a wooden child's chair and a TV table that I am going to repair and add my late husband's and my initials to it. He died a little over a year ago, and I wanted to commemorate us. This helps me learn how to restore each piece. Thank you for a magnificent piece of art!
