Phenylepherine is in hemorrhoid cream because it is a vasoconstrictor. So it makes sense it would help under eye puffiness. It’s also taken orally (in tabs) to decongest your sinuses and, fun fact, is administered in the ICU as a literal life-support drug to treat deadly-low blood pressure!
@KRKimbler Жыл бұрын
That hemorrhoid cream trick was in Ms. Congeniality in the year 2000. I've never tried it, but it's not new. As far as prison skincare in general is concerned, it never occurred to me. Then again, I'm glad it has never needed to. Hope you hold onto that idealism. Mine definitely has declined with age. I have always admired your kindness.

This was a super interesting video, and I am impressed by how innovative people are to retain a sense or normality when they have few options. The part about how not all prisons give out washcloths broke my heart. People in prison are still human. They are human. You don’t know their experience and what led the decisions they have made (or didn’t make since, as Hyram said, not everyone in prison committed a crime).
@Hyram Жыл бұрын
Right? It's so disheartening to hear and imagine. It's so inhumane and there's a reason why people come out of prison so broken. It's the most basic human needs 😣

not prison, but when i was in a psychiatric hospital we weren’t allowed any skincare or makeup. this was really really tough on a lot of the girls especially, because they already felt mentally horrible, and now they couldn’t wear the clothes or makeup that make them feel beautiful or comfortable (they were extremely strict on clothes too). psych hospitals especially, but prisons too, are supposed to be rehabilitative, but too many people leave feeling worse than they did before

I love Tinaaa, is so cool that you reacted to her, she has amazing content about what is like to be in prison, to have an addiction and the recovery road, its awesome really! Her motto is "We do recover" and if you see her comments a lot of people who are ex addicts who are now sober, people who are trying to become sober, people who have family members struggling with addiction or people who had gone through the prison sistem and are trying to have a normal life now all look up to her and think her content is so conforting, relatable or just informative for those who have never went through what she went through ❤

HAAA I went to jail for stabbing the 6 foot 250 pound man that was beating me up for 8 years in the arm and he didn't even need stitches .... I'm 5 foot 120 pounds and was often withdrawaling and so sick and he would sexually abuse me too. He called 911 and fake cried and said there was blood everywhere and there wasn't and I was addicted to drugs and being used and abused by him. Took full advantage of me. But he ADMITTED everything to the cops but they didn't care, I think because I was a drug addict. He didn't even get in trouble and I have a lump on my head FROM THAT NIGHT that won't go away. But whatever. I'm clean now and trying to get my life back. I'm on probation. I didn't go to prison but I went to jail! He got in NO TROUBLE.

I think that it’s super important for people in prison and stuff to at least have some access to things that make them feel beautiful because it could boost their mental health and state of mind to strive to become better individuals and turn away from what they have done and also just to boost their self esteem as well no matter what the situation is

Thank you for making this wonderful compassionate video Hyram, really interesting. As someone who suffers from acne, I’m wondering if people in prison, who suffer from acne or other skin conditions, are given proper treatments for these conditions (or do they just have to live with it)? Because skin problems, especially on your face, just destroy your self esteem. And yes, the haemorrhoid cream definitely works under the eyes because it’s made to reduce swelling 😉❤️❤️🇦🇺

I used African black soap via a friends recommendation years ago. They said your skin will purge. My skin was the worst it had ever been. Guess it depends on the soap and your skin type. My face was covered in painful cystic acne and dry skin. (Had to switch to a stronger moisturizer after that) it may work for some but not everyone. I can’t imagine how awful it would be for anyone in prison using it and having the same effects i did.

My skincare horror stories (just in time for Halloween 🎃🦇💀) 1. 25 minute toothpaste facemask! After being told to put toothpaste on pimples to pull out the impurites that creates the pimple I decided that a toothpaste facemask would be the next logical step. The menthol made my eyes burn lile fire and I had tears streaming down my face because of course I put it all around my eyes and on the eyelids 😭 Left it on for 25 minutes before proceeding to SCRAPE it off with a table knife, it had hardened too much to just use water. I then used hot hot hot water and handsoap to wash the last of it off. Did this every other week for a couple of months before realising my acne wasnt affected at all. 2. Used acetone/nailpolish remover on my face. This was a honest misstake but after trying to pop a pimples that weren't ready I often ended up with wounds on my face. I knew bacteria collected under the nails and would sometimes use saline wound wash to clean the wounds. But one time I mixed up the acetone bottle and the saline bottle, aka I put nailpolish remover all over my face and in the open wounds! Good lord the BURN🔥 3. Bleaching facial hair with salon grade hair bleach (40 volume developer). This was AFTER I had made my friend bleed by applying that very same bleach onto her scalp when helping her bleach her hair 😱
@Hyram Жыл бұрын
OMG these really are horror stories 😱💀 Sounds like they were all immediate lessons learned and you never did them again though right?

@@Hyram Uum... Well... Sort of? 😅 The toothpaste face mask I used for several weeks but after those weeks I completley stopped. The bleach and acetone were definitely one time things buuut I did try to bleach my facial hair with lemon juice and sunshine a couple of times after that. Because when life gives you lemons, put it on your face 🤣🍋
