I think a lot of you are missing the point. CrossFit makes you not care what others think of you. You find your own beauty. You find beauty in strength, and strength in numbers you set and crush. These women are not looking in the mirror asking themselves if they are meeting society's expectations of beauty. They have found comfort in their own skin, and don't feel burdened with looking a certain way.

Amber Sperling Isn't beauty all about attracting others? the reason we take care of our looks is to look pleasant and not repulse people, what's the purpose of thinking you look good but others don't?
@elleflower36449 жыл бұрын
Time Traveler There is so much freedom in realising that we all have our own beliefs about what is beautiful. I know that what I think is beautiful won't be attractive to someone else and that's okay. Of course there are people out there who do think that strong, muscular women are attractive, and of course that is positive for them, but the entire point is that these women don't start with "what do others want me to look like?" and instead start with "what do I want to look like?". In fact, perhaps even more so "who do I want to be? what do I want to achieve? How do I want to feel?".

I am 17 and have been doing crossfit for 6 weeks, 6 days a week every week. I have never been more proud of myself and I see slight changes in my body already! I feel much more confident and overall more happy! I used to not be confident in myself at all, but now I absolutely love myself and how far I have pushed myself to become stronger! I will stick with it most likely for the rest of my life 😁

Once a friend of mine actually stopped doing all the ab work she used to because a boy told her "you have more of a 6 pack than me" and that to me is just so so sad because it's like you have to shade away from your strength because it isn't socially acceptable and you're letting someone else choose your life for you. Hoping one day she can find the strength she needs.

Uh !!! Olympic lifting started over 100 years ago in 1905. Pull ups, sit ups, running, push ups, rowing, box jumps, air squats, and jump rope. Hmmm do we have to even say when these exercises that are done in every open gym in the world were invented. Sounds like a bunch of HATERS commenting on stuff they don't even know. Awesome job to these women and don't listen to the haters that probably don't do crap in there home gyms but walk around and look like they are attempting to workout. Crossfit is great old school sweat and exercise! Too many fads have now gotten in the way of what exercise actually is. Which is sweat and handwork. Thanks to Crossfit we are actually getting back to working out and using the most basic exercises invented. Not, looking good and pretending! Crossfit is the real deal.

+Katherine Brown There are many women that have had or still have a very low opinion of themselves. Lots to do with marketing in magazines. Lots to do with imagery on TV. Lots to do with peer pressure (I'd hate to be a teenage man now). Many still struggle with this but this video brings these issues to the fore and says "to hell with what people think, I just want to look good for me and to be in the best shape I can be, giving 100% to my fitness and lifestyle goals". I applaud this video, there should be more of these. Insecurities can stem from many things and from people who are so-called "friends". But once confidence takes over, it really manifests itself and these women are proof of that. One is a Mum and she looks great for 36. Good for them, whatever the age. Just my view...

@Dreamdancer1110 жыл бұрын
I think you have zero clue about training in general.Crossfit is based in interval training which is basically used in most sports for conditioning for decades.Now the tools used arent important they are just means to an end...thats why when they see crossfiters do kipping pullups they do it cause its a still a full bodyweight movement that keeps your heartrate up but doesnt fry you and makes you quit the circuit.The point is not to make your lats bigger here but to make huge anaerobic gains that translate to fitness in real life. When you see an athlete for example making constant sprints lets say in soccer, to go and score or challenge an opponent, and do that all the freaking time during the game if you had him do bodybuilding and he had bulky muscles he would be winded within minutes.Crossfit actually adresses this kind of conditioning....go watch any team sport athletes train for example....they do some kind of technique drill followed by a sprint then some pushups then another technique drill, then some plyometric jumps etc etc etc... All that is interval training and conditioning, same principles with crossfit.

For the most part, I think some women put pressure on themselves to be skinny and weak looking. It seems to look like this comes from media, peer pressure, etc. Relax ladies, lift weights, feel good and look better. No reason to starve yourself and do endless cardio only workouts. Glad these women see things the right way! Great job!

I've been training as a bodybuilder for 20+ years and been a personal trainer for over 10 years. I know terrible form when I see it and I know the results of it. It's where most of my clients come from. Clueless people lifting weight they can't handle with terrible form.. crossfit defined! If people are truly interested in incorporating resistance exercise into there fitness regime, which they should. I recommend circuit training. It's been around for decades and is essentially crossfit with good form and proper weight. I hope the people hiring these so called crossfit trainers are signing contracts, they will be worth a fortune in future lawsuits.
@navsquid3210 жыл бұрын
Terrible form is one thing. CrossFit itself doesn't encourage bad form. Just check out their instructor training program if you don't believe me. Using bad form isn't peculiar to CrossFit. It happens in every sport that uses weight training. CrossFit's emphasis is normally on perfect form, but of course you'll always get those whose eyes are bigger than their muscles.
@VTV-Live10 жыл бұрын
Then why call it crossfit? This is called circuit training and has been around for decades. The overwhelming majority of the videos of seen on crossfit are border line comical. If someone trained like that in our gym they would be advised to hire a professional personal trainer or go to another gym.
@navsquid3210 жыл бұрын
VTV Haha yeah... well, I think the name is derived from its intention to be a cross-training workout. I think it's a little more focused than circuit training is per se, where you run the gamut of machines, etc. CrossFit takes a "circuit" of say 3 exercises or so and has you do them for reps or time or whatever the workout is that day. That being said, I think because CF has olympic lifts in it, they shouldn't market the sport as open to all skill levels. They could be a little more judicious there. As you probably are well aware, injuring yourself while lifting makes you have a healthy, fearful respect of those big compound lifts. A beginner might get a little overzealous and not only hurt themselves, but develop a culture of poor form.

Uh, crossfit is bullshit. None of these women are remotely bulky or defined ... or even actually strong, compared to a normal figure model or female bodybuilder doing a normal workout at a gym. Normal meaning using proper forms instead of bullshit crossfit motions that makes you look like you're having a seizure.
@eldsprutandedrake10 жыл бұрын
Female body builders and fitness competitors are ofcourse more muscular and defined than crossfitters, that is the goal of the sport... Are you suprised that fotball players are better at fotball than rally drivers aswell? As for strenght, look at for example this video watch?v=_omUBAnHUyI and look at Rita there, olympic weight liftning and squating. I don´t know what you define as strenght but point out some fitness or body buildning girls in her weightclass that lifts that ^^
@tjsho41710 жыл бұрын
eldsprutandedrake That's your defense? Some girl that can Olympic lift what the average bodybuilder curls on a daily basis? Fucksakes, talk about straw-man arguments. First off, nothing in this video is remotely impressive when you examine the people that are actually lifting them. Given their weight class they damn well better be able to lift that. Rita lifts 138 lbs? My 60 year old aunt can lift that shit. What I define as strength is what is internationally recognized as "strength" related activities: bench, squat, deadlift... IN GOOD FORM, along with any activity in the strong man competitions. No cross-fitter would last worth shit in any of those.
@eldsprutandedrake10 жыл бұрын
TJ Sho I was more talkning about the 3x231 squating, but anyhow, let´s take the 138 lift as an example anyway. So as I said, point out some female body builders or fitness girls that can do that then at that weight... It must be easy to come up with some names if "the average body builder" apparently can curl 138lbs @ 138lbs And of course a crossfitter won´t out lift a power lifter, or out preform a strongman at a strongman competetition, again... You are good at what you train, how are you not getting that? A crossfitter will however definately outpreform a body builder or fitness competitor because those are all about looks and not about preformance, yes again, you get what you train for.
@tjsho41710 жыл бұрын
eldsprutandedrake Uh, 231 is nothing special. I know 3 women at my gym, power lifters, who are her size and do the same. As for pointing out female bodybuilders who can do the same, look up Elena Seiple.... to name one of MANY. And if you think a cross-fitter will outperform a bodybuilder in any strength related workout in good form then again, you're dangerously misinformed. When it comes to bench, squat or deadlift, a bodybuilder will easily outperform a crossfitter. As for fitness model, I have no idea... you brought 'em up, not me. Yes you get what you train for... In conclusion, a crossfitter trains for writhing around, gyrating like a Tourette's patient.
@constantinslavik794210 жыл бұрын
TJ Sho man you really can't compare crossfit with bodybuilding bodybuilding is about strength and crosfitt is about fitness every crossfitter could run a marathon and workout after that the bodybuilder is just strong and is more busy with looking fit crossfitters are busy with being fit...

The worst thing you could do is ask her to change her body. DO NOT DO THAT. I know you don't understand how it could be damaging to her, but it could be so very, very bad. She needs you to support her and love her, not comment that her arms could use more muscle tone.

I appreciate the direction of this video, and putting a positive spin on the perception of strength, but it's not quite there.. I've always hated that the focus of working out still so bent on what it makes you look like, rather than performance. They hint at it in this video, but she said that "Once you get a body you want, then you're proud of what you're body can do." We as a society still have issues if we're only proud of what we can do once it looks good while doing it, but not before.

a refreshing look at women's fitness, with girls that actually tell it as it is, and look real - I hate the look of female body builders with loads of make up, fake tan and excess muscle, they look grotesque. Being fit like them takes a minimum of 12 months of dedication and hard work + determination, there are no magic shortcuts.

Thank you for not being rude. I don't know why I got so much negativity, my use of the words "for me" obviously state it is my opinion without needing to point it out. I re-read my comment and I stand by it. I was not negative and I was only saying as a woman that's the look I'd worry about ending up with. It's too bulky "for me".

every girl in the world needs to see this, and practice it, no matter what, guy or girl, if you work out, you are automatically going to look better and more attractive.
