Hmm ok, so definitely sounds like i had a purging reaction to using BHA for the first time. I got a TON of small pimples around my temples and cheeks where I never get them, but no real redness and they were gone in like 2 days and no reaction like that since so at least for me, it must have just been needed and the BHA really helped, since now it truly has been working for me after a few weeks now

I got purging recently. Never get any pimples and now they appears on my oily T-zone just after I start to workout. So it is not only using cosmetics but also diet changes, trainning body etc, it start to detox your body, and the skin will have purging quickly too. I used the same products with ingredients with sacilic acid, PHA, teatrea antioxidant, benzol etc to heal all little cyst and breakouts. I also avoid over exfoliate as well
@Tomoeine
@Tomoeine 4 жыл бұрын
This happens to me too when I work out! I do everything I can to prevent acne at the gym: bringing a clean microfiber towel, patting sweat dry (not rubbing!), double washing. No matter what I do, my skin just wants to purge that acne out haha. I definitely think these methods decrease new pimples though, as a successful workout purge makes tiny papules flee before they become big pustules!

I got breakouts from using it and was quite surprised as I had heard it was supposed to be great for acne-prone people. But I did some research and found that one of the ingredients in the serum made some people get clogged pores. Once I stopped using it, my skin improved vastly. So I guess it’s just suited for some of us while it works great for others. I wouldn’t consider the reaction I had from it as purging.

So glad you guys covered this! I had dermaplaning done months back and I started to breakout on my cheeks(my skin had never done that) and it progressively got worse as I kept going every month. My esthetician told me my skin was purging. Well 4 months go by and I had painful cystic acne all over my cheeks and I went to a derm and he said I had an infection due to the dermaplaning. The peach fuzz growing back was getting trapped and he said even with the proper exfoliation it wouldn’t help it. I will never do that again!

when i broke out this year, i assumed it was fungal or irritation from using a facial sponge. once i tossed out the facial sponge, i still got the acne from time to time... turns out it was the cerave cleanser that broke me out and i wish it was just purging but i broke out for months. i never usually breakout so i knew something was wrong, i stopped using the cleanser and went back to my old routine, my acne finally cleared up 😭 moral of the story: if you have a routine that works for you, there's no need to try other products that are "recommended" because not everything works for everyone.

Sherine Shruthi hi lovely! You said 2 times a weeks and u already see pimples ?. If it works it means it very powerful also cuz only 2 times has started giving you a purge. Make sure you check carefully . Ur acne history and now is it the same... I don’t have lot of acne or pimples. I have black and white head in the past and little ones . And after 4 days using BHA I can see those pops up. You have to see what kind of pimples ,acne you have now?? Red? Itchy, Cystic? . People always says 2-8 weeks depend. Because skins cycle is around 1-2 months maximum. More than tats you have a break out. So please stick with the product at least. Or visit ur doctor to make sure ..

Remember, you do not want to use a chemical exfoliant every day. Your skin needs a break from it or you risk damaging your skin barrier. You may want to cut down how often you're using it but keep going. Be patient. Hate to say this but purging can last up to 4 weeks. I would use it just 2x's/week in the evening only. Advice from my Derm. I learned.

Tip for people with really really oily skin; I have stopped using moisturizers in the morning and my skin has gotten so much better. What I do is I spray my face with some rose water (you can use anything that’s light and will hydrate your skin) and then apply sunscreen and that’s it. I have realized that if I use a moisturizer I will kind of breakout so yes, try this and let me know if it helps :) have a nice day! (Also don’t forget to moisturize at night so your skin doesn’t lose too much water)

Niacinamide can break down when it is exposed to extremely acidic environment which may cause your skin to flush. Would be better to wait 15-25 min between applying AHA/BHA and niacinamide.. #copied! Also avoid using too much BHA on to your skin as it can make your skin flaky and dry.. don't forget to add a good moisturizer in your skin routine..

We just buy the name because we tend to trust even tons of them don’t work unfortunately. Niacinamide does not cause purging because it doesn’t speed cellular turnover. Instead, it inhibits melanin (darkening of the skin) and it regulates sebum production. If you’re using something like The ordinary’s niacinamide and you’re breaking out, it could be that your skin doesn’t like a specific ingredient in the product or you could be having an allergic reaction. Everyone’s skin is different. If you’re already acne prone, you could just be breaking out, completely unrelated to anything you’re using, since breakouts can take weeks to come to the surface of your skin anyway. It sucks but c’est la vie.

For someone that never used acid before and suddenly use the ordinary peeling i admit it's a brave move but also unfortunately wrong. @@honeyedflesh yes definitely a personal choice i agree! but fragrance in skincare is an irritant for most even if they don't realize. they've done studies and tests on even natural fragrance and essential oils in skincare and found its only non irritating for human skin contact at less than 0.1which would be in the lower tier of the ingredient list. i believe having it in some of your products is okay especially when it's naturally derived (even though naturally derived fragrance like lemon peel and citrus fruits have been widely found to be irritating at the hypodermis). the problem more so comes in when you are using say a face wash, toner and moisturizer all with differently derived fragrances and the mix can be internally detrimental for your skin barrier even if it is not visible for years to the eye. your cells overturn daily so with daily use of fragrance and dyes on your face your cells are internally turning over with this information which definitely disrupts structures and doesn't promote cells staying healthy and youthful in the long run. even if you aren't allergic to fragrance outright you can develop sensitivities because our skin organ being exposed to those compounds consistently can reverse effects of some of the active ingredients we use. most dermatologist who looks deeply into different types of skin everyday for years would recommend fragrance or dyes. the overall dermatological stance is to get clean products free of fragrance at the very least even if you show no signs of sensitivity. even with perfumes which seep into the skin layers and expose our body to different chemicals that wouldn't otherwise be present has effects we don't realize. definitely to each their own and a personal choice though.
