I always learn something from your videos and I really enjoy them. Stupid me but I've never seen a conibear set on the top like that with one horizontal stick holding it - good to know. I've always seen them set with two vertical sticks. Glad your season is off and running and very cool to see the kids involved as well. Great stuff for sure and looking forward to more!
@deadpinecollective2 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yes the vertical stick is an easy way to “hang” the trap in an area, especially when the water is really deep.

It’s amazing when you get some of these kids out of the classroom and you realize how smart they are and eager to learn when they are engaged. It’s like an outdoor video game 😂

You bet. We are teaching so many kids about trapping, and appreciating nature and how to use it responsibly. Thanks for the comment!

This was an awesome video friend especially liked it because it was longer than normal and that young feller sure knows how to run the camera doing the videos he gets right in there taking the good shots. Congratulations on your first beaver from that first trap. It looks like you’re going to have a good season, you’re a good trapper so you shouldn’t have nothing to worry about kids are doing an awesome job as well

They sure love holding the camera 😁. It was a bit shaky at times so I had to be creative with the editing. Definitely a good start to the season, now it just time to get a few more traps out. Glad you enjoyed the longer video. I usually only do 10-20 min but lately have been pushing 40+ min. Viewers seems to enjoy the longer ones.

I was watching Shawn’s video as mine was uploading, and also noticed he was wearing the Dead Pine Trappers hoodie I dropped off to him. That was another great episode of his!

Nice vid! I see you use regular jaw conibears then the Belisle and Sauvageau's. you don't like them or are they to hard on the beaver? what i notice about them they are to me, last weekend i did nuisance beaver job and got a year beaver and trigger on the bottom as i remove the beaver i notice a chunk of fur on the bar, i thought to myself what the heck, i think the Sauvageau is to strong and i think the Belisle is Ok but the trigger is a bit tight and needs to be loosen. I think the Belisle trigger needs to be a bit bigger to spin around in my opinion.

To be honest, these were the traps that were available to me in this region from a local Trapping company. I’m not crazy about the safeties as they often come off if the trap is upside down. I really have to be careful and keep an eye on them.

@@deadpinecollective get a piece of tie wire about foot long and wrap the trigger wire 2 wraps, and 4 wraps on the spring bar, give that a try. just like Belisle safeties.
