That last IC was in some very cheap IC Socket strip type things . I used to use them a very long time ago here in the UK when I was short of money but they were so poor quality I spent more money and got better ones . It looks like they tried them out -- had trouble so soldered the IC to the sockets --strange . An option was to also buy polythene holders for the strips of contacts . The contacts came as a strip ( like Dupont contacts etc do ) and you cut them into a strip of 4 ,7 ,8 etc and put them into the polythene holder ( or not ) then soldered them in place and then ( & only then ) broke off the strip that joined them all and kept them 0.1 inch spaced .

I wish I had seen that on eBay, I was looking to buy one of those, as long as they have the resistance and Ac options installed, that meter is exactly what I would have wanted to buy.

You are welcome. It's the only Datron item I've had.

Max if you get any more 1071/1081 which have the resistance and Ac options please let me know, especially if they are electrically broken, those are my favourite.

OK, will let you know. The new owner told me that the 175V rail (?) is faulty. I guess he has repaired it already.

That 'LM714' was an OP-07!

I think the chip with the aluminium tag on it is a PLA.
