Enjoyed this tutorial on my TV. Now I can do basic mosaic in the round. I found some mandala thunderbird yarn on clearance and it’s turning into an attractive blanket - maybe for a baby or toddler depending on how big the yarn works out to be. This stitch fun to do while watching shows. Thanks Beba😊

Thankyou so much for this beautiful but super easy pattern! It does work up so quickly and the 5 mm hook is my favourite one! I’m using very similar yarn to yours and it looks just gorgeous! I’ve had a major knee surgery and am confined to a wheelchair atm so crochet is all I can manage for now and this is the perfect fun project! Plus here in Australia it’s winter and freezing so a blanket is just what I need!🧡

Beautiful! Rectangular would seem to be more useful to make a blanket or throw. I have never seen this back post/front post DC before and it must make a thicker fabric. I can see using a one size larger hook is a key component of your pattern. Thank you for sharing your skills and the tip for the final corners. A rectangle pattern would be more suited in my humble opinion.

Depends on the size you want and yarn you plan to use. I would say about 10 skeins of FERRIS WHEEL . But if you want it much larger, then more

I always take notes as I follow a video. Here's what I cobbled together for this one. I'm hopeful that they'll help others where I got off track & felt it especially helpful to jot down my thoughts. Solid mosaic moss square @BebaBlanket From notes taken from the KZbin Video The fastest, easiest and most gorgeous blanket! Solid mosaic moss square @BebaBlanket (updated) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIe9qaJjj8Sfh68 Abbreviations MR - Magic Ring sc - Sincle Crochet stitch blsc - Back Loop Single Crochet ch - Chain fldc - Front Loop Double Crochet (This is worked into stitches that are 2 rows below.) NOTES: Whatever size hook your yarn calls for, use a hook one full size larger. There is NO JOINING in this pattern. You work in a continuous spiral. If/when you place stitch markers on the 2nd round, put the stitch marker into the first single crochet (sc) stitch of the corner combo grouping [1blsc, ch1, 1blsc]. Really, DO use the stitch markers to help you keep your place as you’re establishing the set up for the whole rest of the work. After Round 2, you can remove the markers as you come to them on Round 3. Stitches within a parentheses pairing are all worked into just one stitch. Example: (1blsc, ch1, 1blsc) are all 3 worked into just one stitch of the previous round. Just to help you orient yourself once you get going, just remember that all blsc stitches are worked into the top back loop of the previous round’s fldc stitches AND that all fldc stitches are worked 2 rows down & into the top front loop of the fldc stitch there. (The exception being on Round 3 where you have to work the fldc stitches into the stitches of Round 1’s magic ring. Just use the bar that is easiest to see. These MR sc’s are especially hard to get your hook into, so you may want to have a much smaller hook or a yarn needle to fit into them to loosen & ease your primary hook’s entry. I find it easier to think of the ‘corners’ of each side as made up of a combo of basically 5 stitches. (Stitch 1) The final blsc of Side 1. (Stitches 2, 3, & 4) The ‘corner’ itself. [1blsc, ch1, 1blsc] all worked into the next st you encounter. (I got really confused the first few times I tried this because I kept trying to work the ‘corner’ combo into the previous corner’s ch1 space. You do NOT do this!! You never work into the ch1 space. Just place your stitches into whichever previous round’s stitch as you encounter it. (Stitch 5)The beginning blsc of Side 2. Corner is done. The first fldc of Side 2 can be a little tricky to find the correct placement for, but really don’t overthink it and just use the bar that seems most readily accessible. You can really doublecheck your stitch placement when you find yourself at the first fldc of the previous round and you’re ready for the next blsc. Remember all blsc stitches of a side are worked into the top back loop of the previous round’s fldc. …and Bob’s your uncle! Round by Round Instructions Round 1: Make a Magic Ring (MR) & work 8 sc into it. Tighten MR. Remember there is no joining so to begin Round 2, just work your next stitch (the first st of Round 2) into the next stitch. (the first of the 8 sc’s of Round 1.) Round 2: Into the back loop only [(1blsc, ch1, 1blsc), 1blsc] x4. This is where placing stitch markers can be so helpful in preventing you from losing your way/orientation. I put my markers into the first blsc of the threesome grouping, just before I make the ch1. Recall that you never actually work into the ch1 space of this piece. Round 3: [(1blsc, ch1, 1blsc), 1blsc, 1fldc (worked into the top of a previous fldc that is 2 rows below), 1blsc. Round 4: [(1blsc, ch1, 1blsc), 1blsc, *^1fldc, 1blsc^* x2].. Round 5: [(1blsc, ch1, 1blsc), 1blsc, *^1fldc, 1blsc^* x3]. Round 6: [(1blsc, ch1, 1blsc), 1blsc, *^1fldc, 1blsc^* x4]. Etc, etc, etc… until your work is as large as you want. Final Round: (To strengthen the corners of your final round, work it as follows…) Each side of the final round starts & ends with 2 fldc’s instead of a (fldc+blsc).
@LETTHEBEGIN3 ай бұрын
You do work the corners into the BLO of the previous rounds ch-1 space and not a stitch, and then the rest of your notes look fine.
@barbparsons38003 ай бұрын
@@LETTHEBEGIN I can't understand your comment. In my opinion, a ch1 space has no loops to it. True, the ch1 stitch itself has loops, but the space formed underneath those loops does not have any. That is the point I was trying to convey. So many ch1 spaces (like in the linen or moss stitch) actually have one work into the ch1 space of the row below that my initial attempts were incorrect since I was doing that. That's why I emphasized that the ch1 SPACE is not actually used. The back loop of the actual ch1 is indeed used. Hope that clears up what I meant to say.
