I've never seen a jp dub upload of this uh... heartbreaking... scene from Trolls anywhere on youtube so I thought I might upload it myself lol
Gotta love how they didn't autotune kid branch's voice when he yelled "grandmaaAaA! D:" like in the original. Because of that I can take this scene like, a little bit more seriously than before (but I still don't take this scene seriously at all like bish you're telling me THAT's your sad backstory and the reason you don't want to sing??? I would've preferred it if he were just shy about his singing or bullied because of it tbh).
But whatever, at least it's an unintentionally hilarious scene lmaoo.

​@@mattybrunolucaszeneresalas9072 As mentioned, those two lines were not included, and the tone they choose while still pushy and demanding from the pink troll, goes from bratty and entitled to aggressive and demanding with a mix of loud angry frustration when she asks why won't he sing, and Branch goes from being dismissive to being outright angry and directly with telling her he won't do it before finally bursting when he tell her singing got his grandma killed (it's doesn't say "singing killed her", it's a small but notable difference), following that he has a tone closer to someone who's unhappy about their outburst and ashamed about it but still angry instead of getting sad+vulnerable like in the Eng dub (he still starts sounding sadder as he tells the story, but it's a progression instead of a cut from one thing to another). So... Yeah. In other words they're being a lot more dramatic with it

Cute and Kawaii stuff is more ingrained into Japanese culture than western culture. Cute stuff is not necessarily only for younger audiences or embarrassing. Of course there's also a strong sense of what's adult and serious but it's more for work environments, with the cute and kawaii possibly being an escape from that.
