It is not staged. Ross contacted the producers and they agreed he could meet up with Becca. The producers did not contact Ross. They set Ross up by telling him where she was but it was his decision to go there.

I watched Arie long ago on Emily’s season of The Bachelorette, where he made it to the finale two. I also watched Becca’s season of The Bachelorette, and her and Garrett appear to be a very happy couple. However, I did not watch Arie’s season as The Bachelor, so I obviously didn’t see the relationships. Having said that, I would’ve never put Arie and Becca together! You’re put in this intense environment where everything revolves around finding that one person, getting engaged and living happily ever after. Or, more often than not on The Bachelor, breaking up a few months later. I’m sorry for the heartache Becca went through, but I don’t think her and Arie would’ve lasted as a couple. I even went back and watched Arie’s proposal to Becca, and I wasn’t feeling it. I’m happy they are with, hopefully, the “right” person now.
