My girlfriend left to Canada 3 months ago, I was waiting desperately to see her face and give her all of my love. Last monday she called to tell me she wasn't going back and that it was over. She would've come back in 3 more months. Now the only thing i have is the memory of my times with her, and this great music to keep struggling for the day we reunite.

Sounds like his singing voice is 1000 times stronger than his speaking voice, which is pretty normal. This man was born to sing.

such an amazing performance from an a amazing album, I'm not a big fan of any of his other records, though I do own most of them (from "Mellow Gold" to "Modern Guilt") but I'd say "Sea Change" is one of the best records of the last 40 years. from the melodies, to the lyrics, to the production and mixing. top notch. he can work in any genre and have it be interesting. truly a talented guy

Sea Change was his finest album. In my opinion it was the most honest and personal sound we've ever heard from him. I think he has been so associated with "eclectic" and "innovative" that he feels it's necessary to continue on in that direction. I don't believe it would hurt anyone's estimation of him if he focused on one genre of music, rather than filling his album's with such variety. His slower, darker stuff is amazing, I wish would pursue that direction again to the fullest.

If Beck wanted to, he could probably be a pop superstar like John Mayer, but he just does what he truly feels and I respect him for it sooo much. This is amazing.

This man walks his own path....I've never heard anything from him I don't like....this one especially makes me smile....makes me know, I am OK....he is OK....we are OK....God gives us poets, and singers to remind us that things aren't quite as fucked up as we think.....

I hear you. Believe me. When I finally learned how to play and sing this song (seven years ago, I think), this very song that made my heart wrench -- same situation as yours -- suddenly took on a whole new meaning. Difficult to put such a feeling into words, but Beck helped me put it into melody.

The first time I heard this song was when I was really baked and my brother (r.i.p) played me this song through some headphones on his cd player. I was completely blown away and it gave me goosebumps. Especially at the end of the first verse. I was about 17 at the time and now that I think about it, none of my peers were not into this at all. They were into Good Charlotte and Sum 41 hahaha!!! I played Sea Change over and over. Amazing songwriting in this album.

Nice to see Love there. And of course the Velvets - who were such a self admitted influence on Beck himself. There are a couple of albums I have not seen before that I will take up, so thanks. Incidentally where do people stand on midnite vultures. I wasn't a fan at first release but I have been listening to it the ast few days and I think its pretty damned good. Just too esoteric for people to embrace. Tracks like Milk and Honey, sexx laws and of course debra - are great and unique.

oooooo, wow - you heard beatles, U2, and, oh my god - I can't believe it REM. Sea Change is a fantastic album but I think it probably lies outside the top ten which includes. Bob Dylan - Tangled up in Blue Van Morrison - Veedon Fleece Rolling Stones - Exile On Main street Neil Young - After the Goldrush Warren Zevon - Warren Zevon (eponymous) Leonard Cohen - The Future

Well Astral weeks usually makes the lists. I am well into Van Morrison - and I think Veedon Fleece is his unsung masterpiece. Taking nothing away from Astral weeks though. Its just a matter of taste, and I personally prefer Odelay to Sea Change.

Joy Division are great and Good call with Dinosaur Jr, I even have a soft spot for thier new stuff. I did not mean to sound so arrogant. and I can see now you know your stuff. so take my apology.
