ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from college, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.

Dear Becket - several times in May and in June I remembered my "Becket July" habit and while I prayed for you I failed to announce it. My own life of sadness, something Jesus is so a available for, so while challenging I know that I am being changed in the process, was so... distracting that I didn't get it together. Love ya though!

This is an amazing story! I was in a same sex marriage for 10 years and gave birth to 2 children via artificial insemination. I was then radically converted through dreams and visions and demonic attacks. This was in 2013. I’ve prayed for my ex wife for 11 years for her salvation and she has not yet accepted Jesus. What an inspiring story to keep praying for my ex wife and children. My son is now 17 and he is wanting to learn more about the faith. Thank you so much and God bless you! The Lord blessed me with a Godly husband in 2021. God is very good ❤

This is one of the best videos I've seen in a long while! What an amazing story! My ex wife and I have two children together. A few years ago she left to pursue a lesbian relationship with her longtime friend. It was the worst thing my children and I have ever dealt with. Ultimately, it led me to seek Christ, I've gone to them and forgiven, and I pray for them every day. God is great, and I will trust in him always! Thanks for the great show Becket!

That's pt. of my testimony as well. My parents divorced, then my mom was in a relationship with a woman for a decade- my brother and I lived with them. There's a lot of hurt in my past, even apart from that, but after meeting Jesus, all that hurt is just a vapor, you know? Jesus is greater.

I was gay for 13 years and then saved at the age of 25 but I thought I was the wrong sex until my mid-30s. Needless to say, I am so glad nothing happened (I never had the money for gender change surgery) and now I know I am a daughter of the Most High God! Loved Patti's testimony and can see the miracle of transformation. Mine was a bit longer but God got through to me (Only a little over a year)!

I came out of that lifestyle a while ago by the grace of God and as I reflected on what led me down that path to that lifestyle and to declare so adamantly I was "born that way," it really became clear that sexual abuse was the root cause. I imagine for a majority of gay men and women it is some sort of abuse, sexual or otherwise, that occurred at a crucial point in their growth and development that skewed their sexual identity or nudged them closer to that lifestyle because of their comfort in and around one gender and distrust of another. I'm so thankful that is not me anymore and pray for my friends who are in it now.

@@alysonwilliams2882..I agree totally but also after many talks with known homosexuality it can come down to great desire by one or both parents too. One father caught his 2nd son as he was being born 30+ years ago & said: Oh, f--- another boy! Then in 2 cases mother went on to over coddle the boy. It's sad..but that's why they feel they in the wrong body because the brain was wired to believe it!

I used to work in "the gay community"..it was pretty obvious to me, as a lesbian, who was a lesbian and who was , for whatever reason, out of whatever trauma, was actually a lesbian and who wasn't really.( This can be recognised for one thing by looking at the rest of their lives...substance abuse, getting into relationships with other troubled people...this is what troubled people do because they are troubled) . And where it is true many in what is called "the gay community" are not actually gay...there are a lot of people like me who are just simply lesbian/gay...not because of a trauma or any other reason than being born that way.

Patti, you’re making my eyes leak over here! What a story! As someone who literally grew up in church, your story has been unexpectedly helpful to me. It’s made me more aware of what people might feel when they come to church for the first time, and that we need to take our cue from how the Lord works, so clearly but so gently and personally.

@rebekaearly1144 Rosaria Butterfield has a wonderful book which recounts the kindness of a pastor and his wife as well as their church body and how it impacted her as God drew her to new life in Christ and out of her lesbian life. Highly recommend it for all who would like to learn how to love with compassion and truth.

Great testimony! I'm reminded of my earliest childhood friend, Jonathan. He showed up at my brother's deathbed while I was reading from the Gospels to him. I love how Patty describes how she and her 'partner' prayed-'Lord, if you're for real, show me'. Jonathan worked for Peter Frampton (among others). Singing: "I want you to show me the way. Everyday. I want you day after day." 'Show Me The Way' from 'Frampton Comes Alive'. If I remember correctly, the opening line goes-"who can I believe in? I feel I'm going down." Jonathan, also was with Prince for 'Purple Rain', and a few years after that, Jon Bon Jovi for 'Living On A Prayer'. And he showed up at my brother's deathbed the day before he died while I was reading from the Gospels. Jonathan and I never discussed our sexuality, but I'm fairly certain that he's resigned himself to being 'gay'. We Jews are a hard audience for coming to Jesus and repenting of our often many sins (and there's a lot of same sex sin amongst Bnai Israel; way too much of it). But Jonathan showed up at my brother's deathbed, and I showed up too-with a Bible. Yes, it's also true: My brother once attended a party at Mama Cass Eliot's house, and he also spent an evening with Michael and Jermaine Jackson. That was in 1970, when the Jackson Five's "I'll Be There" was the hit of the land. Singing: "You and I must make a pact. We must bring salvation back. Where there is love,..." Also, from 1970: My brother had a top 40 hit with a song entitled-"I Still Love You, Anyway"-from Buddy Miles' 'Them Changes' album. And also in 1970: I found myself in a boarding school with Judy Collins' kid sister, while big sister Judy had a top 20 hit with her version of 'Amazing Grace'. The Lord nevers stops reaching out to us, to save us and to make our crooked paths STRAIGHT (Amen). He'll send us lots of signs to that effect (Matthew 12:49-50), but we have to choose to humble ourselves and completely turn to Him.

I wrote the book Prodigal for Wynn Thompson by interviewing him for many hours and then we worked on it together. Three years later it became a book! I work full time, which is why it took me so long. But God was definitely helping

I'm going to be honest, I never comment on these things. But this one hit home. Stirred within me an ache that I often times try to ignore. When I was around fourteen, I started to have feelings of same sex attraction. It was alarming because I wasn't anticipating it lol. Came like a brick hitting me in the face. In retrospect I guess it makes 'sense'. How I ended up at that point. But by the grace of God, I fully knew it was wrong in that very moment. It knew it was just my flesh screaming. I knew that full well at the time. I knew what the scriptures said and felt it engraved on my heart. I couldn't deny it. I was scared though. How do I reconcile such things?! How do I survive this?! I was absolutely scared. I didn't know what else to do so I just ran. Sprinted. To Him. To Jesus. I didn't know what else to do. And so I kept running until the screaming eventually stopped. Well, to be honest, it never fully shut up. The attraction side of things. But it did quiet down, started to have less power over me. Now it comes and goes in brief subtle wisps like brushing away a gnat buzzing around my head. All because Jesus broke that chain. Praise Him! I know those wisps are just the world trying to get me back. But praise God for His strength and faithfulness! But dang, would it have been easy to come out at the time when I was fourteen. I've considered it before. I could just give in. It would be so easy. I grew up in an era where gay marriage was legal (I was 10 when it legalized and I remember the shift in culture, my peak development years as a kid took place in that shift). I was in a school that was very accepting, surrounded by children who the idea of gay was no different than what your favorite color was, in a community that was very accepting, it was plastered everywhere 'the acceptance', on KZbin, on TV, on social media, the store, even in churches etc. I grew up in a family where the God designed version of marriage was turned upside down and it was our normal (I grew up in a 'village of women' where men were on the back burners and marriage was a construed and foreign thing and most definitely optional to the family unit). You couldn't get away from it. Practically drowning in it. And I was in a friend group that was pretty much all gay or gay 'allies'. Minus like two people. Me and one other girl who straddled the line with her convictions. I was the Christian out of the group. Looking back it's so ironic. I was the 'bible thumping' kind of Christian. Even went straight up to my gay friends and told them they were wrong. That they were bound for hell. Looking back, I could have finessed it much better. I was clumsy and lacked eloquence at fifteen. But despite that, those friends kept me around. We all still hung out and made memories all through high school and graduated together. We had differences but at least we were kind to each other and civil. I even went to prom with one of them. At the same time my parents came to me (at separate times) and asked if I was gay. They even told me that it's okay if I was, that they would accept me. Every gay person's dream. I chuckle at the irony. I told them no (I had knew I had same sex attraction but I refused to identify as gay or openly act on it, like I said, I just kept running). Looking back, I think they suspected because I was a little odd compared to the other girls my age and I never had a boyfriend in high school. Not because I couldn't get one, I was asked out a handful of times but I rejected them all for various reasons (I was also attracted to males so it wasn't a sexual problem that propelled me to reject them it was because I was in cult activity that prevented me from dating anyone (long story for another time)). I believe my mom found out about the rejections and got suspicious. My dad on the other hand was also suspicious but I don't think he wanted to say anything. He didn't come to me asking if I was gay until after my break up with my first boyfriend (I was out of cult activity at this point and trying to rediscover true Christianity and thus I was allowed to date at this point but I was still figuring out what that exactly looked like as a Christian, I was a fish out of water). One of the reasons I broke up with him is because I wanted to save myself for marriage (because I was Christian), he didn't agree per se. So we went our separate ways. My dad knew the reason why we broke up and I think it deepened his suspicions. I refused to have sex with a man/sex at all (before marriage) and he didn't understand. His best explanation was that I must be gay and hiding myself in the closet. I laugh about it now looking back. He genuinely cared, just a little off base haha. And so here I was, still running, hoping to get to the other side of it all where the pressures of the world and family weren't weighing on me. Again, I considered. It would be so easy to come out, to explore that side of myself that I was constantly running from. Heck my parents were even accepting. I think they would've honestly been relieved in some regards if I had just come out. But I had the conviction in my heart. I said no to my screaming flesh again and by the grace of God kept running. I held on to this shame for awhile. Still do. Having such attractions is weighty and tiring and the last thing I want is to tell my parents and all those people in school that they were right. So fast forward to now. I'm married now to a loving Godly man. One of the things we bonded over while we were dating is our struggles with ungodly attraction. Finding Christ's grace and love in each other. Didn't feel so alone anymore. And to be honest, my parents still don't know about those depths of my heart, the parts with the same sex attraction. Maybe someday I'll tell them. Share with them how Jesus has literally carried me through all that. I would like to make that clear. I say 'I ran' above for clarity sake but let's be real, it was Jesus's legs who were running and I was just in his arms, shutting my eyes, waiting for it to be over. Waiting until I could cross that finish line. Well, He's still carrying me. Praise God! I just wanted to share this in case there was anyone out there who needed to hear it. Anyone that may be feeling tired with all the screams and yelling going on from the world and your own flesh. You may feel like you should just give in. Maybe then the screams will stop. I'll tell ya now, they won't. You won't feel satisfied or at peace. True peace can only be found in our Lord Jesus Christ. Run to Him. Fall at His knees. Let him carry you and take the weight off your shoulders. Whoever you are, wherever you are out there, I'm praying for you. I'm rooting for you. Amen. And Becket and Patti. if you are reading this, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your ministries. I pray that they flourish and lives continue to be saved and our brothers and sisters in Christ that struggle with this be lifted up. Ever since I found you Becket (about over a year ago now), I have felt way more equipped to help those around me and tbh, help myself. I don't feel so alone anymore. I look up to you and hope I can be a light to others, especially in the LGBTQ+ community, like you (and Patti, Christopher and Rosaria) are. Praise God for you guys!

Please pray with me for family members who are struggling with same sex attraction. From the scriptures I read in Gods word I know Their lives will not and cannot be blessed. They neither one support and are disgusted by the flashy LGBT movement and parades and the debauchery of the gay bars and looseness of morals but are dedicated to the one person they are attracted to. They seem happy and content but I know as a Christian they are living against Gods will and plan for their lives.

Encouraging, inspiring and uplifting testimony! Patti’s down-to-earth, loveable nature leaves me wanting to hear more from her. Same as with Becket. She will do, and has done much for many. I so want to send this video to an estranged lesbian friend who cancelled me when I wouldn’t embrace her progressive ideology, citing its ungodliness. I came close to doing this with Rosaria Butterfield’s podcasts because I could relate to her intensity. Patti’s girl-next-door accessibility seems more of a fit for this friend. Praying for the stronghold of rejection to be broken.

My Son sent me this video and we had had a conversation a few hours earlier about the church and different congregations excepting and not excepting the LGBT community in their churches. I just wanted him to know that the church should welcome everyone and not judge so that both the person and God can do the work to change. Too many churches condemn and judge and I don't believe they believe LBGT can change. God can do anything in a church that welcomes everyone. He uses the meek, weak, hopeless and LBGT lost for his glory. What a great Testimony...Praise God and Our Lord Jesus Christ🙏✝️
