We had the opportunity to document our experience at one of the coolest (literally) places on earth. This isn't your average lodge in the middle of the mountains. Beckham Creek Cave was founded by the guy who invented sleepy time tea back during the cold war. Random?? I thought so. But nevertheless, he knew what was up. I highly recommend you put this on your bucket list of travel destinations.
If you like this video, please subscribe for more content like this. I will also be posting another Beckham Creek Cave lodge video which features more activities in and around the cave. Appreciate you taking the time to check out my video. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them below and I will get back to you.

My father, John Gamby, helped to blast/build this cave house in the 70-80s! I didn’t meet him until I was 29 years old. He sure had an interesting life. He passed away about seven years ago. His wife, sent me this note yesterday which lead me to the website/this video. From Vicki Gamby “Here is a link to the cave house John and the other guys did. He did all the blasting in the mountain and also inside. He didn’t do the finish work. Pretty amazing. He used to take his showers in the waterfall inside. He said it was cold as crap!!! Thought you might like to see that. He had an interesting life. I have many stories he used to talk about. When I came along I guess he was ready to settle down. That’s why the words to his favorite song, Desperado, fit him perfectly.” I hope to visit this cave in the next few years in memory of my super interesting biological dad, John “Bumps” Gamby (who I am still getting to know)! This is the no 1 place on my bucket list to stay at….when I win the lottery! Just 2 hours north of us. What a dream come true it would be, like staying in Dr No’s lair from the James Bond movie. ❤😜

How do you keep the water from leaking out everywhere? And the high humidity down from causing bacteria growth on everything? What happens in heavy downpours. The maintenance must be ungodly expensive.

Back when it was first constructed, a thick layer of marine grade liner was applied to the entire cave. This kept around 99% of the water from getting in, but it still drips in certain spots. It's part of the experience. As far as flooding goes, there is a creek that runs underneath the cave floor and all the water goes through there. It's so large that there has never been an issue with flooding. The cave stays around 65 degrees year round naturally. Dehumidifies keep it dry as possible. It's really no more humid than living in Florida.
