Try not eating until noon and finish by 6 or 7, (or whatever hours works, but 6-7 hours then fast), it does wonders. Also, try not eating sugars or out of the box, I gained 15 pounds at menopause simply eating like I always did ( never gained weight until 53 years old) and lost it 2 years ago finally doing this as well as eating from my garden etc. I love eating all the things I grow!

I really encourage everyone to listen to what Dr. Becky just posted. I stop eating food and drinking non-water drinks at 5pm- I am in bed with lights off by 8:30pm. I have found that I sleep better and I am not coughing throughout the night (1 sign of GERD- gastroesophageal reflux disease or “heartburn”). I drink only water from after my last meal until bedtime. When I wake up at 4 am, I drink a lot of water before black coffee and my first meal of the day (on work days) is at 7:30 am but on my 4 days off my first meal of the day is between 9-11 am, I go to bed and wake up at the same time on my days off; if I know we are going out or hanging with friends, I will take a short nap during the day, fast until noon, eat again at 3 and then go out for dinner with friends and finish the last of the food by 8 pm. And again, only water after that, alcohol is not in my repertoire and hasn’t been for more than 20 years.

When I worked night shift (6p-6a), I ate at home at 5 pm- my largest meal, ate a small meal (generally a chef’s salad) at 9-10pm and at 1 am I ate my last meal (usually the leftovers from dinner the night before)- all my meals were protein rich and vegetable dense and kept me satiated to not even want to snack in between. I would suggest planning your meals according to your work schedule like I did.

I did a sleep hygiene routine when I got home from my shift- do any dishes in the sink and my lunch bag, feed the dogs and put them out, take my bedtime pills, take a warm shower and then brew a cup of decaf tea with a little bit of honey , then I head to bed within 1 1/2 hours after getting home and out soothing music on when I get into bed with a timer on my phone. Been there. Life as a whole is so much better now. I've had to add a bed time snack due to hypoglycemia. Very upsetting for fasting and I've never been a night time snaker.. I recently heard one of the YT docs say you stay in Ketosis eith a snack of fatty meat. Just starting that tonight a slice of bacon (no suger kind) and adding a tablespoon of olive oil. I think it will be satisfying and less harmful than other options. And ill start eating the first meal at lunch instead of brunch. We'll see.

Also, eat saitiating meals, fill up, because smaller non keto meals will leave you hungry. BBBE = beef, bacon, butter, eggs, all pasture raised, plus a bit of seed and nuts, plus MCT and Olive oilis, stick,to leafy greens, others limit to 1/3 of the plate, is more sustainable. No grains or carb veggies. I got this from Ken D Berry and Sten Ekberg. For prescription strength KETO = Dr. Westman (or Westmore?) 20 carbs a day.

I've found basic eggs and bacon (or any meat) for breakfast and I have no hunger even at dinner time - HUGE pleasant surprises. Bone broth also sticks with me. Stick with it, you won't be hungry or feel deprived, happens very quickly, overcomes boredom eating also, another surprise. Best wishes.

Additional help : Dr Sten Ekberg for fascinating nitty gritty biology and nutrition and extended fasting (haven't tried that yet), Dr Westman (or is it Westmore?) for an easy but lengthy college level tutorial about KETO. Ken Berry for pep talks (and carnivore, that I do a few days every other month or so for a boost in clearing my mind. Like you I'm older and live alone, and get stressed out about all the wonderfull new recipes to try. Nothing is simpler than carnivore to free the mind, and you can still have 1/3 plate of veggies with dinner).

I've been using a "stopper" but never knew it had a name! I set an alarm to finish my dinner, then brush, floss, and treat my gums with antiseptic mouthwash added to the water in a water flosser. (Since I really dislike the idea of repeating all that, it's a great stopper!) After that, I only allow myself non-caloric, non-sweetened beverages - carbonated essence water in warmer weather or a hot herbal tea in colder weather. I find that I sleep better with less food in my stomach so my "stopper" is 4-5 hours before bedtime.

My issue is portion size and will eat w/out pause until the msg gets to my brain that I'm full, as you've said. Your tips have caused me to lose 4lbs in the last 2-weeks since I found you on youtube... Especially the stoppers. Instead of eating 2 or 3 helpings at meal time.. I now look forward to popping 3-pieces of SF bubble gum in my mouth and blowing huge bubbles after 1 helping.. giving time for the "Im full" msg to come through. Then instead of popcorn (per your other video about snacks) I now have a cornucopia of fun teas to sip on while watching TV. My diet is mostly whole foods so have only had to use some of your other suggestions to get it right. I used to try weight loss using drastic dietary (calorie) changes that set me up for failure. I can't believe such small changes have finally set me on the right path to weight loss. Thank you Dr. Becky❤

Its up to you to eat dinner early, at least on most days. When you say, its typical to eat dinner at 8, do you mean that you must eat at that time, because others do? That's a choice. Is it social pressure? If you want to eat earlier, you'll find a way to do it. Otherwise, we tend to find excuses.

Maybe try backing up your dinner time in just 15 min increments until you reach yourgoal of nothing to eat after 7 pm. You also might consider adding an evening walk since it's still light. Doesn't have to be a long or arduous walk, but may help signal your brain that eating is over for the day.

Dr Becky, I’m from SA 🇿🇦 i am finding difficulty getting LMNT. Any suggestions on what can be closer to it

I'm in bed by 5:30pm and stop eating by 6 but watch TV all night..... sleeping whenever it happens. I've been low carb for years but have been struggling with 200lbs of excess weight. Mobility is an issue so waiting for a more appropriate bed time is a problem. Any thoughts?

Can you still do the ACV an hour before bedtime (minus the cheese)?

LMT looks good but I can’t drink anything with the fake or natural as call sugar . Stevia is bad for people like me with IBS . I would use it if had monk fruit . Company should look into that . According to the low FODMAP foods monk is probably only one tolerated . It’s so hard to find food and diet with my IBS because the most digestible foods for me is bland food toast bread and rice . High fats get me sick because I also don’t have a gallbladder and issues with that too . Only thin works for me is the IM fasting which I follow through Dr. Becky advice .

Be careful with LMNT if you have edema and high blood pressure. My feet and legs doubled in size and have stayed that way 6 months after trying LMNT, Been KETO fir 18 months, TMAD, dinner at 4 pm, also Hashimotos and Metabolic Syndrom. Though my labs have improved I'm not losing weight at all. Started having hypoglycemia (in 40s) early morning about 6 months ago. So I've had to add a bedtime snack. plus reduced insulin which is raising average glucose and my A1c. Any ideas for best snack? Currently either an egg or 1/2 avocado, chicken or yogurt. Plus some coconut water. Working, but want to get A1c back down.

One thing I want to correct. The study said ACV or water plus 1oz of cheese. Not both.

I work the graveyard shift. I sleep during the day. Help! I see all kinds of videos but never any for the graveyard shift worker. 3 days 3-11pm and two nights 11pm to 7am. What should I do?

We always look forward ur new videos... We know a low carb , moderate to high fat keto is what can help with reversing insulin resistance n diabetes....but we always wondered if it's only dormant..bcause if we eat carbs or fruit, sugar will spike...so was it reversed?🤔 Just now we got extremely puzzled.. This Dr said...eating a banana will spike sugar, but it's not the culprit...it's the high animal fat n low carb that causes insulin resistance "...Dr Khambatta..Why high carbs are actually the answer to reversing diabetes" Can anyone unpuzzled this?

LMNT isnt giving any different price for using your name. My husband is trying it from a different computer and we've tried from our cell. Arg
