Our food system is corrupted with ultra processed foods, seed oils, sugar and preservatives. I'm staying away from all that with single ingredient whole foods I prepare at home. I'm 64 down 100 lbs!

It's not only corrupt but enhanced by "natural flavors". Google it. In short these man made flavors stimulate your brain and you cannot eat enough of that food. Think potatoe chips or smelling a cinnamon bun store at the mall. I have been a total carnivore for 2 years. Yes it was not easy. But no more diabetes or high cholesterol and blood pressure. However I still grave fries pizza bread etc like a crack addict. Good luck on your journey. It's tough but the results for your health are fabulous. Stay the course.

Dr., your instruction is a goldmine. For too long I was highly sceptical of the keto diet. But fortune favors the bold and, over the past four months, trying my best to incorporate your approach, I have seen radical improvement in my general health. With measurable results: 19cm off my waistline; 20kg lost; 'brain fog' eliminated; sleeping through the night; blood pressure normal, even following exercise; cardio and respiratory improvements that are too numerous to list here; and comparing my pre-diet and current bloodwork is like looking at two different people. I have only one complaint: who does all this huge clothing that hangs in my closet belong to? Shirts, trousers, jackets...all of it...I'm swimming in them. What a wonderful problem to have! Your clarity, your sense of calm, your grasp of "moderation in all things" are as enviable as they are rare in the modern world. And they are a great blessing to all of us who are in need of your expertise. Gratitude from Scotland.

I was unsure about the effects of a low carb , high fat diet as I had high cholesterol to begin with. After loosing over 40 lbs, recent blood tests indicate normal levels for everything the Dr measured! Some on high normal, but to be the green for the first time in years. Eggs and cheese every day and those levels got better! Like mind blown, totally opposite to how I understood things to work.

@@pattiemcd8790 I began in May, however I took 2-3 weeks "off" where I drank beer and ate moderate carbs while on a work related travel. I used the fasting method to control my food intake so I did not gain during the travel. Besides the low carb diet, I do 1 hour of moderate intensity cardio 5 days a week in the morning before I eat anything.

The problem with some of these foods is that they are also high in oxalates. When I stopped eating so much of them, my joint pain almost disappeared. I can give up dark greens but still eat almonds and chocolate.
@Jayla-dj2gjАй бұрын
Just realize that food oxalates are a drop in the bucket compared to the oxalates your body makes when diseased. It's good to keep food oxalates low-mod for anyone but you must look at mitochondrial health and that is the key to stopping indigenous oxalate production. Medications, vaccinations, pesticides, antibiotics and anesthesia all harm our mitochondria.

I've come to believe it's more important to forgo the polyphenols because they always come with carbs. There is more benefit in avoiding all carbs altogether. Eating berries for the polyphenols to 'regulate blood sugar' is cancelled by the berries raising your blood sugars.
@DanaNourieАй бұрын
I eat 1/2 of berries every day at 8 carbs and my glucose went down! I test my blood twice a day. Ketones went up. Also I eat artichoke which don’t raise my blood sugar. I keep net carbs at 35 a day.
@delicate.mascaraАй бұрын
Low carb worked for a while, but extremely low carb isn't realistic long term. I've had success simply avoiding empty carbs (mostly white carbs) and super high sugar foods like dates. And increase peotein to 100+ mg a day
