I loved your story! I'm from Brazil and I've just graduated in English Languange and Literature (in Brazil we say Letras - Inglês) and I'm looking for a way to boost my career as a ESL Teacher. I wish to have this kind of experience that you had, and see videos like that makes me feel that it's not impossible (even if i'm not from a native speaking country). Once again, I love your video, you seem to be a really nice guy, and I appreciate a lot the information you shared with us in your video! Love from Brazil! \o/

your story is cool I've been doing the same thing but as a real digital nomad i find my own students and work online from my laptop i left the UK when i was 30 and now im 58 and have travelled through 43 different countries . im now in Vietnam started doing Asia . iF any one wants to do this just do it the experiences you gain are unforgettable. But guys if you work in schools or language centres you get tied down to a country.

Thank you for your perspective! I think you make a great point about being tied down by a school. However, I would say in the beginning at least, the structure and support offered by a school is a great way to get off the ground. Have you ever considered using your teaching skills to branch out into other areas of teaching/coaching or teacher training? I really like your channel btw! You have great style and delivery! You also remind me of a young Jim Bowen (remember bullseye?? :)

@@FergusFadden thank you for your kind words . And yes there is some safety and structure when teaching for a school or language centre. It was how I started . I have thought about coaching and I have helped many teachers here in Vietnam and it would be a good move I believe and would be interested if the opportunity arises

It seems online English teaching is unstable. Lots of companies will fire you out of the blue and pay is low.

21:45 - "Put the cat among the pigeons" is equivalent to "mexer com casa de marimbondo" in Brazilian Portuguese. Thanks for sharing your experience and insights as a digital nomad teacher. I am watching you from Biguaçu, southern Brazil.

@FergusFadden Imagina! This expression is very common in Brazil. Recently some Argentinian TV hosts "mexeram com casa de marimbondo" when they took the piss out of Fernanda Torres about her hair at the Golden Globes Awards. When people criticize Brazil or Brazilians, they need to know that they are "mexendo com casa de maribondo" haha. I'm an EFL teacher based in Manaus in the state of Amazonas. I am in Santa Catarina on vacay now, but tomorrow I'll be flying back to Manaus. So, a couple of weeks ago I watched a digital nomad's vlog where he described what his life was like as a digital nomad, and that piqued my curiosity. I wondered if teachers also ventured out as digital nomads, so I found your vid and that was the answer to my question haha. Honestly, I don't think I'm cut out for this, but I'd like to know more about it. Enjoy your stay in São Paulo to the fullest. :)

Hey there! thank you so much for reaching out and I love the cultural insight for the use of "mexeram com casa de marimbondo". I completely hear you about not feeling cut out for the life of a digital nomad. I love the freedom of being able to go on these kinds of wonderful adventures and not having my job hold me back. At the same time, life out of a suitcase gets tiring and I miss my creature comforts of being home! I guess for me, like all things in life it's about finding balance. I was just talking to a friend about Manuas recently - I have never been further North in Brazil than Vitoria em Espírito Santo but I would very much love to know more of the nordeste and amazonas - one day I hope :)

I live in the UK have started teaching English online part-time, alongside my full-time 9-5 job. I am considering to become a digital nomad. I would like to backpack through south-east Asia and work remotely. My main concern is Internet access and reliable, stable wifi. I am looking at various mobile hotspots such as Solis Lite by Simo. I am not sure how much data I would need to buy per month to be able to teach at least 10 hrs a week. Any advice from experienced online English teachers who travel the world would be greatly appreciated.

What materials do you use for your lighting set up ?
@FergusFadden
@FergusFadden 4 ай бұрын
haha! I haven't had this kind of question before! If I am completely honest, sometimes I forget to turn on my lighting set up, especiall;y if it is a very bring day - I just use the blinds in the room to diffuse the light and it seems pretty good to me. Do you have some feedback on the lighting of my videos?? :)

I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I'm sorry it didn't meet your expectations. I will say, it is not my intention to trick anybody - this was simply my approach. As I am a language teacher I rely a lot on context to help communicate my point and this is what is translating in my style of video. I'll take your feedback on board and work on producing more to-the-point work in future.
