Hubby loves this railway. Dont get to visit it ofter enough. He used to volunteer on the Peak Rail line (until we moved) after we bought him a footplate experience driving a steam train.

Fabulous ( as usual). We have been watching John Sargent, Piglett and Peter Davison on their journey from London to Scotland by steam only.

I saw you filming this. And I can say that becoming a volunteer is definitely worth it. Personally I’m a junior volunteer. It takes you to all sorts of places the public can’t go. Or at least without trespassing (please don’t ever trespass. It’s very dangerous and you can be fined £1,000 for it). Anyways lovely video as usual. Thanks for bringing these things up and partnering with the railway i dearly love and live on.

Fantastic video when I was growing up I can't so many steam engines in the railway stations and in the steam sheds in Leeds. What's a fantastic opportunity.🚂

Awesome video. My great grandad used to be a steam train driver! Apparently he always called steam trains “proper trains”. He didn’t like diesel and electric trains one bit.

Andrew, many thanks for your Cinder Track videos which inspired me and two cycling mates to come up to Yorkshire. We enjoyed the trail, spent a couple of nights in Whitby and travelled on the railway to Pickering. Great fun.

We are booked on a dining journey for our wedding anniversary in September. I come Middlesbrough and my wife from York though we now live elsewhere. For my 70th birthdayy we stayed Helmsley with our children and a daft dog who loved the beach at Sandsend . Hutton le Hole, Whitby, Sandsend, Saltburn etc are places we love. Any chance of a Helmsley area video.

Hopefully at some point. So many great walks around that area. My murder on the moors video was very close to there.

I would love to do this, but will need to convince my boss to allow me to return home to Yorkshire. However knowing it is the 50th anniversary means I will book a ticket and ride Whitby to Pickering in the summer for a day out.

People must pay an absolute fortune for a driver experience there. A return ticket is expensive enough

Once you can stand the bullying that goes on and the crap management based at Pickering....and the less savoury aspects of being with a bunch of trainspotters.....then you might fit in.
