Hi Andrew, I'm fortunate to be a member of the station group that takes care of Grosmont Station. Thought I'd seen most of the historical photographs of the area but your video has shown me some more and also taught me more of Grosmont's industrial history. Incidentally, at 11.00 into the video, the long grass on the left is a wildflower garden that was planted by the school kids some thirty years ago and which gets left to grow throughout the year, only being tidied at the end of the growing season. There's also another wildflower garden being cultivated by the station group in what used to be an allotment area in another part of the station.

Brilliant! Grosmont Pickering line I've spent many a time riding these trains and when friends and family visited from abroad it was a must. What a trip down memory lane.... When this pandemic is done I will return to UK and stay in Grosmont and explore it out more as so much shown here did not know about. Wow so much more. Brilliant thank you.

It’s been a while since I was down at the railway, but when I did visit, I would mostly hang around the railway and only venture down towards the gallery end of the village. I knew about the iron works but had no knowledge of the brickworks… I’ve learnt something new. When visiting in the past, I mostly stayed in a B&B in Goathland (up until the B&B owner sold up (the new owner was a railway enthusiast and had turned it into a railway themed place)) then I found a secret (well, I’m keeping it a secret) B&B in Pickering. I’ve often thought about B&B in Grosmont or Levesham but I’m a real ale fan and have a dietary problem so I’m now limited where I can stay as I need to find a eatery that can suit my needs. Once this pandemic is over, I’ll get back to the railway and have a holiday… I have fond memories of my times down there. PS I’m a railway enthusiast and I work full time on a heritage railway in Scotland but I’d rather not stay in a themed B&B… As usual, a very nicely paced and informative show… best regards. PPS 65894... She's a lovely engine... Drove her when she was up in Scotland on my line... Oh, and what is the structure behind you on the river, next to the rickety bridge you were standing on?

Goathland is a great place too and I'll be visiting it in my next video. I'm not sure what the structure is. I couldn't find anything when researching it.

It seems that I've been following you around the moors this summer Andrew. Just a couple of weeks ago I was on Stephenson's dismantled horse-drawn railway/tramway from Goathland to Grosmont (the 'Rail Trail'). Remarkably for a lifelong resident of Yorkshire, and frequent visitor to the NY Moors & coast, this was my first ever visit to either village. I've seen the signposts on the Pickering to Whitby road on countless occasions, but have always driven past - eager to reach the coast. Evidently, I've been missing out. The view over Grosmont from the hill above the rail tunnel was a sight to behold on the bright, sunny day of my visit. I hadn't planned to spend the rest of the day wandering around Grosmont station and its environs, but couldn't resist. As ever, your superb video and commentary has only added to my enjoyment of this beautiful area. Thank you once again.

Especially the one on Butlins Filey, where I used to attend the Filey Christian Convention week that was held every September at the end of the season. Another very good film about Grosmont ..I stayed at Grosmont house and one of the cottages. Very nice place to stay. A beautiful part of England and very informative. Learnt some good history of the place !!. I watched all your films regarding Whitby and know the nymr. If you plan to do Pickering that would be great as it's where the line restarted in 1973 as the new terminus. Whole area is so interesting. Thanks for your hard work putting this together. Great video once again. Makes me home sick. I was born in Saltburn by the Sea brought up in the Middlesbrough area during the fifties and sixties, with the smoke and dirt. Things seemed to be in mono, black and white in those days, but the smoke has gone and the dirt is swept away now while the shady green colours abound everywhere along the coast and fields. I lived in Canada for 6 years close the Rockies but returned home to North Yorkshire only to leave again 20 years later to live in Bulgaria by the Black Sea. Now at nearly 70, my thoughts are returning me back to home, your videos are giving me itchy feet to return.

Don't believe what it says on the plaque about it being part of the ironworks. The brick structure is a part of Hodgkinsons Slag Crushing Plant used to turn the slagheap into road metal! Nice to see the village from someone else's point of view, and to see our house from above. Thanks for the advertising for the Co-op, as a long term committee member it is much appreciated. With half the village now holiday homes and second homes it's very hard to keep the facilities open, so the shop, pub and cafés welcome any publicity we can get. Keep the series going. I've enjoyed watching the Cinder Track videos and seeing some of the area from the drone, which gives everything a different perspective.
