I am working on starting an LLC social service as a social worker. As I have been working closely with the community I notice my clients have a hard time navigating governmental systems, or I attend a high performance workshop that I know my people in the community can use but it’s to high up on the ladder for them to reach. I want to be the connection that bridge the informational gap between lower and upper class society

Just started watching your videos. So great! I’m an LMSW in NYC working towards my Clinical license part-time. Although I only got my Masters in 2017, I’ve been in the field of social work for 10 years (!). And I’m currently considering other opportunities in the new year. I’ve been a yoga teacher for several years and have a few different yoga training certifications. I’ve thought about partnering with a few friends to offer a yoga/wellness retreat for social workers for a while. But I’m concerned about how saturated the yoga retreat market is, and I’m not sure how to get started.

Hi! So thankful that I found your channel. I have a master’s in social work and I am licensed at the master’s level. I also have a coaching certificate. I have a desire to work with caregivers. I am a caregiver myself of my mother who is ill and bedridden for about 6 1/2 years now. I feel stuck as to where to start. Finally someone that understands!! Your video really helped me and inspired me to believe that my dreams are possible. I have a BSW, I want to package services for youth with behavioral issues. I want to offer them life skills, anger management skills, meditation etc. Would I need a license for this ?

In response to your question, you'll have to check out the requirements of your state, but generally speaking you'll probably need a license if you plan to deliver counseling or therapy services yourself, but you may not need one if you plan to act as the CEO/director and use licensed practitioners to do the counseling for you. You have other options that don't involve licensing, too. I have my BSW in social work I do not plan to obtain my masters any time soon. I started a mental health page on Instagram talking about trauma and helping others identify trauma and educating them as well. I want to begin to create a space for others to share their experiences and I could teach them how to over come their experiences. Would I need licensing to run that group ? I won't be diagnosing anyone nor will I address severe trauma. Just want a space for people to come and unload

As a trained social wokrer, licensing boards would like you to have a license if you're going to be doing anything of a clinical nature. The truth is, many people who aren't trained in social work at all are speaking about their own experiences with trauma and are holding space for those that have experienced it themselves. I am not a part of the licensing body so would not advise you NOT to pursue your license. However, I would also not tell you to let that stop you from creating safe spaces for others with your passion and experience. Happy to help you explore your options further. ♥️

I’m taking a lot from what your sharing. I think long-term with everything I do. I am going to be starting my BSW next spring, full intentions of going for my MSW. I have 2 rental properties that are paid off, I intend on using the equity in those to purchase more. With the goal of turning those into “recovery houses” and providing services to the clients I serve. Where I am stuck at is.... if I don’t have to get a LCSW to bill insurance, I would rather not take 3-5 years working under someone, just for the freedom to bill clients insurance for $40-75 an hour. If I could “part-time” hold seminars on job coaching, resume building, mindfulness training, crisis training to clients living in my recovery houses this would enable me to make 20-60k simply on the side, on top of the rental income. Plus be able to have a full-time job outside of social work, due to the fact it doesn’t pay well. I am so very glad I subscribed to your channel, and looking forward to more content.

Sounds like you're already on your way, Daniel! If you don't want to deal with insurance you can decide to cater exclusively to high-end clients who don't have a problem paying cash. But without knowing the specifics of your situation it's difficult to say, but I'm so happy that you found this channel as well. Happy you're here!

Wow I needed this!! I have both BSW and MSW, I never knew entrepreneurship was an option. Of course outside of private practice. I saw social work as a linear field until NOW!! Thanks for this! I’m also a health and wellness coach. I’ve recently lost 50lbs no starvation dieting. Now I know I can do health coaching in unison with my social work career 🤎
