Imagine if every school had these.. as a visual learner my self, this would have helped me understand so much more. Amazing work as always.

I love it! it has never been so easy to understand these suspension geometry concepts!

Would you consider touching on semi trailing rear ends. I know they are a bit archaic but some of us poors are still using them.

So is the next one going to be roll center, then anti-dive/anti-squat? Would be a great way to show people why allowing the lower control arms to go past level and start upwards is a really bad idea when lowering your car.

So, random I know but, I do alignments for a living and this channel has taught me a lot. Something came up at work today and I gotta know your opinion on this. Multiple people argue when setting camber and caster, you should set one side a little higher than the other to battle the crown that's built into the road for water runoff. This sometimes will cause a vehicle to pull to the right so they try and compensate for that by inducing a slight pull to the left. I don't agree with it. What are your thoughts?
@tracklizard40182 күн бұрын
Don't. Set it up for what you need, but make it symetrical. That whole water runoff is BS, and if it's really true, then good, you will stray into the side of the road instead of traffic at a heart attack or something.

In my opinion, on larger vehicles this effect is more noticeable. Think trucks and larger SUVs. For passenger cars with independent suspensions it is not felt as much and can cause the car to climb the crown towards the centerline. I used to set up smaller cars as square as I could, but for 2500 and heavier trucks I’d have a .2 total caster relationship.

@@eheggestad You're crazy. Heavy machinery will have automatic line control these days too which makes it even more crazy to scrape tyres for no benefit. Always setup symetrical wheel alignment and suspension unless you're doing oval racing.

@tracklizard4018 GM specifically tells you to offset the caster in their specs! It's to counter the road crown! You can say that's incorrect, but tell that to a customer on why their truck heads into the ditch as soon as they let go of the wheel lol Some aren't bad at all when they are the same side to side, but some definitely need it to drive straight! And I always set them up to drive straight!

@@davekauffman561 Never seen that personally. Are you talking like one degree of caster extra on the outer wheel?

When you say "Clicks" on a coilover, what adjustment are you referring to?
@FDFraceshop2 күн бұрын
The damping adjustment knobs that are on coilovers used to adjust how much the shock controls the spring on bump and rebound

I’m guessing that you could prototype moving from a divorced setup to a true coil over to see what changes and effects this is going to do before you make the decision.
