I'm a huge fan of Frank Lloyd Wright and the prarie style and I think you modelled it to a T. Even if you couldn't get the materials to work, the form and design of the build examples you made were spot on to the point that I recognized it immediately. Side note: Please make a video on how to do all the fancy things with signs!

I really want to do a mix of traditional Japanese and cyberpunk. So far I've made a somewhat successful pagoda like steel & glass factory (need to work out how to do those upturned roofs properly).. experimenting with using signs as neon lighting on it now. I've also messed around with modern & futuristic styles and of course the "random box" (my starter factory) which actually doesn't look too bad lol.

If anyone else is wondering, the black stripes in the Chicago school factory are made with stacks of frame floors. They'll look slightly different depending on how they're rotated. In other areas, frame foundations are used. Each is filled with a concrete foundation and painted to look like brick. For the arches, they can be offset by a half foundation by using a small pillar before building the walls.

I sometimes limit the floor space I have to work with on purpose to force myself to come up with solutions. And never a square or a rectangle. Think more of shapes. Then you link the odd shaped buildings with each other via bridges or second/third floors and make it look good with pillars, windows and walls. And tadaa! You've created unique architecture.

I really love the Chicago School and Brutalism styles as they look most appropriate for factory buildings and are easy to build for players with low architectural skills like me.
@brianp68593 жыл бұрын

@thischannelhasnocontent86293 жыл бұрын
Brutalism is actually quite fun, because you can start *very* simple and then get more ambitious with style as you get better, and it'll always be recognizably brutalist. You can't do that with, like, Craftsman or Tudor styles.

I finally did my first attempt at "architecture" the other day! Instead of just plonking some foundations down across a canyon to walk across, I took the time to actually put down some columns to make it appear as if it was a bridge with supports. I even made the electrical wires and belts running along it look like support cables. AND added some inverted ramps next to the columns so it was less blocky It will be a long time before I ever reach THESE levels of buildings...but I'm proud of my little bridge!

Another thing you can do with billboards is use them as floors. If you place a beam down you can then snap the billboards parallel with the floor on the beam. The large billboard fits perfectly over two foundations.

Great videos TX, I tend to sink a few hundred hours into Satisfactory, get to a certain point, stop for a while and then repeat, and your videos always teach me something new and are my go-to. Amazing. I'd love it if you could do a "Build Along" type video, detailing various beautiful design aspects, less about the actual factories themselves, but just making them look beautiful. I've seen some of the time-lapses you've done, especially the heavy module frame one and was blown away by the beauty of the building. I'm very much a see it done, follow along, type learner and would be amazing to get some inspiration as I followed along as you built some beautiful buildings step by step. Most buildings seem to be hollow and not really suited for a true factory to be placed inside. They're gorgeous though, but not practical and serve no real function. I first build my factories, then cover it with walls and roofs and I've managed to make my coal power plant and quartz factory to be nicer than just plain open foundations or a simple box building. I'm just getting started with making my factories more beautiful and these videos give me some ideas though, as they show clearly what's possible and how you should do it.
