Let me get this straight.. my man has 11 yrs in, is far ahead of track, is a promotable SFC and decides to go back to the bottom and be a "gopher" again? He obviously did not spend enough time around Officers previously to see how they were treated in several respects. As 2LT's; as ROTC Officers also, they are seen as the lowest as the low in the social hierarchy of the Officer Corps, and, he and others need to be aware (and this may have very well changed, I retired in 2004 after all) his balance of time by the time he does retire will be as enlisted. I retired while on recruiting duty. Our Company Cdr was a ROTC officer who went to ROTC with 11 yrs in as well. He went to retire with 20 yrs in and was told by retirement services in a courtesy call, that his retirement would be based on his "high three" pay but only for those 3 years of highest pay as enlisted since most of his time was as enlisted. 'High 3 ' for retiree pay has phased out by now, but that 'balance of time' thing may not have. My former Company CDR was lucky enough to pull his retirement before it went anywhere and stayed on active duty longer to have more time in as an Officer.. In my day, anyone doing this would be seen as a serious step down; from being a senior NCO to a junior LT! Service is NOT supposed to be about pay

How about just the honor and privilege of serving the people of the United States of America? Sometimes we can get caught up in all the wrong things. She inspires me in so many ways and that’s why I’m grateful she agreed to do this interview.

@@Therealc_hill you do not understand. this is NCO business; as in some Senior NCO's failed in their leadership roles to inspire these two to realize that the rank they wore was more than that. That it was 'admittance' to the ranks where not all can reach. Perhaps its a case of being promoted "too fast"? Especially for the male soldier. I don't even know if the Army has a promotion points system any longer for E5 and E6 but used to be, there was one. And if you were in a 'low density MOS', one with not that many people in it, usually technical jobs, it was a true struggle to get promoted. It was truly something earned. In my MOS, by the time many of us achieved the rank of SFC most of us had enough college credits for about 3 yrs of college! All done so that we could earn promotion points for E6 to get an edge of everyone else. These two said themselves in their own ways. The one said he was basically bored and was looking for the next challenge (while on recruiting?) the other said something about never really having good leadership coming up through the ranks. THIS is what I am talking about, not necessarily anything against them, they have just never been properly led and counseled as NCO's by NCO's. "Back in the day" a whole 18 yrs ago, green to gold was for those who already had a 2 yr degree; OCS for those who joined with a degree. Those people, if they desired, were counseled and encouraged to look at that route if it was something they wanted. If not, then it was counseling to attend the promotion board and Leadership academy (PLDC, WLC whatever its called now) and become an NCO. Anyone seeking to go to OCS or green to gold was not counseled to attend the E5 promotion board, especially in the very competitive MOS' like mine where promotion points were nearly always maxxed out and I saw a lot of excellent highly technically proficient SGT's have to leave at 15 yrs because they could not get the last few points needed to make the cut off score. However, all of that being said, I hope this fits what the Army is looking for. The Army does though, need to seriously look at recruiting for traditional ROTC programs and getting those routes to Commissioning back in play, thanks for the videos, thanks for the response!

What college did he go to? With only JST credits it is very interesting to know what major someone is able to pursue. Most colleges need you to do certain classes for general Ed even if you have meet your credit requirements. There is a lot of info about his situation missing of he did ADO two years.

I told the Airforce recruiter I was 240 he stopped responding! I like the Army better anyways! My only issue is i am not sure if i am ready for a full time slot i am 35 i want a taste to see if i like it if i go army reserve or guard will I get to take advantage of the Perks like VA loan and assistance for school. Do you get housing assistance at part time? Other than the one weekend a month can i volunteer for schools like ranger and jump?

My name is SGT (P) Lee, Hyeongmin, 25, 88H, currently Army Recruiter in Los Angeles, CA. I have 51 credits from 2 community colleges. (12 of them are ESL) I was reading G2G ADO handbook and saw there is no age waiver, I need to be 31 or younger by the time I commission. Is it still possible for me to be qualified for G2G? Who do I need to talk to? ROTC ROO? to see how I am doing so far? and discuss what I can do in the future? Thank you in advance.

Hey SGT Lee, thanks for sharing. I will be completely candid with you, you are a perfect candidate. Talk to your ROO, and start your packet ASAP! DO NOT worry about the age waiver! I have never seen anyone turned away because of age! I recently did an interview with a 39 year old 2LT that got accepted to do the G2G program. I say again DO NOT worry about the age waiver!! Let me know if you have any other questions. Congrats as well, I'm excited for you!!

Good evening, I would love to get more on his story I’m enlisting now and I stumbled across your video and was definitely glad I did because I too don’t have any traditional college been a mechanic my entire adult life but I do love to help and teach people. I know I have the discipline and grit just didn’t know if I could die to school and age I’m 33 now but this has given me hope that I may be able to follow my uncle who is a LT Colonel and lead our future enlisted

@@freshfox1423 You don't need a degree to join the program, but the program consists of you obtaining a bachelor's degree in order to be commissioned as an officer. This video misleads people to think they can become a second lieutenant without graduating from college, and that simply isn't true. Perhaps the authors thought they would get more KZbin views this way.
