Your style of presentation is fantastic. A great mix of professionalism and casual attitude. It feels like a chat/sit down with a mate, but not in a lazy or lacklustre way. Ignoring negative comments and not giving a shit about other people's judgement is a very important step in life. Other people have no idea what you have been through in your life. The earlier you get your head around this, the better!

This particular video might seem low effort at first glance, but I was genuinely impressed at how few cuts there were-especially considering the lack of a teleprompter. Your ability to speak paragraphs of clear, interesting, well annunciated, umm-free, pause-free, slur-free storytelling at the camera without need of a prompter is remarkable and better than some so-called professionals. Nice one, baldie.

Another great video Sean. I remember years ago when YT wasn't so strict that there was money to be earned but they've changed the rules etc so other YT channels now find other ways to generate money. I did however consider filming my ute when I was restoring it but other things got in the way & I could not film & do a restoration at the same time. I took plenty of photos & they are elsewhere to be seen. You're right about Aussie cars being under-represented & we do have a unique history which is why we watch them on YT. The biggest cringe I have is Americans when they grab a hold of an Aussie car & try & tell you about the facts, especially in regards with utes. Try & be as factual as possible when you're filming a car. Design, specs etc, just don't rely on one source & make sure it's officially verified. Holden VY & VZ One-Tonner production numbers is a bugbear. It had a short production run by any standard, it came in V6 & V8 as well a AWD V6. An article that appeared in a major Sydney newspaper back in January 2006 gave totals for all V6, V8 & AWD variants of the One-Tonner. The problem was that it was never officially verified by Holden & the author of the article never verified it either. When you online search for One-Tonner production figures, this article is the only one that pops up & everyone takes it as gospel. I know people who have worked for Holden & a couple left that I know that work for GMSV & I've asked them about One-Tonner production figures & all they can tell me officially is that it's low. Holden will only tell you the full production output of each series. I even contacted the author of the article & there was a lot of side stepping from him. Having worked as a copywriter a few lifetimes ago for a few publications, the authors article wasn't written by him but by someone at Holden's PR department for publication for the author to tag his name to it. I found that out later by a contact of mine who worked at Holden & it was a PR nightmare for them for a number of years. Again for anyone, research heavily or you'll get picked on about it. Ask Doug Demuro, he gets everything wrong all the time on his channel cos he can't be bothered to research, but yet his subscribers believe everything he says. As I used to say back in the day..... Facts, not fiction! Everybody here will agree Sean, that you present yourself as a practical, honest, entertaining, authentic person. You do your homework before you film & you're also providing Aussies & overseas viewers a taste of what Australia used to produce. Dad bod, balding or not, you're passionate about the cars you own & there are like minded people out there. I might be a Holden bloke, but it's good to know about Aussie made Ford Falcons & it's derivatives as in the end both companies made automotive history.

I see myself very much like you, introverted, dad bod, balding and automotive channel. I feature most of my cars but the main focus is building my VK Calais. Fantastic advice Sean! That is some great info about all the fundamentals right there! I have small channels dedicated to two of my passions (Cars and Travel). My two golden rules are 1) I must enjoy the whole process end to end and 2) KZbin and your audience owe you nothing (keep your expectations realistic). You definitely get better by 'just doing it' and in no time the whole process E2E becomes easier. Agree with having thick skin and right attitude towards the comments section - I have been called a S#%T C##T, a hack, a wanker, boring, along with the standard 'your doing it wrong' comments. I use to hate them but now kind of look forward to seeing them so I can have a laugh! Love your work as always, Cheers Marc (Meatball Garage & Marc's Mildly Interesting)

The thumbnail looks good, but the video title may need work - it doesn't contain the word Tesla for a start. Get as many keywords into the title and use as many of the 100 characters as you can (without it sounding ridiculous) as this tends to make a big difference. If you're ever at a loss as to why a video might not be doing well, take another look at the title and also the thumbnail.

@@MotoringBoxTV ah awesome, a clap marker would do the trick rather than trying to lip synch! Yes the garage and how to videos are all good, it just when we are out in the wind at the race track and inside the cabin when the car is on full noise. We have also tried to do out of car shots with the Go Pro mounted on the roof and quarter panels for example but the wind noise just kills the videos. Awesome channel mate and love your explanation about how the algorithm grabbed your earlier Fairlane video. We had a similar experience with a video that suddenly got 70k views but not 200k+. The AI in the algorithm is seriously clever and constantly changing.

what is the trick to your panning shots when you're driving where the camera will pan from the road to you? is that a mount and how is it controlled?
@MotoringBoxTV3 жыл бұрын
I use a GoPro MAX 360 camera to achieve those shots - but as awesome as it looks, I don't really recommend it and decided not to talk about it in this video. In a nut shell, it is difficult to use, saves HUGE files (around 32GB for every 8 minutes of footage) and requires a very quick PC with a fast SSD to edit effectively. Even with an i7 10700k, 64GB of RAM and a Samsung EVO 970 SSD it struggles. So for the average person starting out it would probably be the most frustrating thing in the world.

Great video, very insightful. One question. Time, how much do yiu you spend on it from idea of video to uploading?
@MotoringBoxTV3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the video, but it is more time than most people realise. I just filmed a video replacing a particular part on my car and it took me around 4 hours. Editing time will be the same again if not more.

Hey Sean! This might not be a question that you can answer, but how do you find inspiration, ideas or content? I've wanted to start an auto blog or a youtube channel for ages now, apart from a few owner reviews on car advice I've kind of hit a dead end. I'm not terribly mechanically minded, I'm not Mark Webber and I can't afford a new flood damaged Ferrari every month to make content with. You've developed a really cool idea and overall theme for your channel. Did that just come naturally? Thanks for this video as well, it makes it seem so much more simpler than one would think it would be!
@MotoringBoxTV3 жыл бұрын
If you're not continually looking at different cars, you'd have to be willing to learn how to work on them starting out with simple tasks like oil and filter changes. To be honest I am not mechanically minded either, but having this channel threw me in the deep end and forced me to try and learn more to make content. I do plenty of things wrong and some may criticise that, but there's a lot of other people at my skill level or below who want to learn the same thing, so that's kind of nice. The only other thing you can do with cars is travel places, so there's that too.

Looks good mate. As you go I'm sure you'll find ways to improve. I would take a look at getting some lighting so you can really light the cars up bright, and maybe get creative with the background or even the turntable itself. Keep it up!

Yup, you don't know until you try. And after the first video you'll spot 10 things you could do better next time. And then the same thing will happen next time and the time after that. Before long you'll start getting into the swing of things!

Hi another great video, other than Australia, where do most of your subscribers and viewers come from?

Vast majority are within AU. But the USA, UK and NZ all make up about 15% together.
