Hello everybuddy. I've been working on the techniques in these videos for 9 months. I've learned how to love myself and stop living with labels. The thoughts are still there, yet I have become skilled at which thoughts I allow to manipulate me. I've learned about boundaries and defensive behavior. I'm 50 years old , I wish I would have learned these practices years ago .

2:45 you cannot control your thoughts but you can learn how to manage them when they come in 4:34 acknowledge that your thoughts exist; do not ignore/deny them 7:00 your brain is always going to throw defeat-ful thoughts at you and that's okay 10:45 attach to the ones that are helpful and detach from ones which are not 13:13 decide which thoughts you want to be thinking

This is helpful! Therapists I've worked with in the past said thoughts are just thoughts. However, I think my thoughts relate a lot to my core beliefs about myself. So, my beliefs are the things that are hard to change for me. I see the thoughts as a symptom of what I believe to be true about myself or what others believe about me that I take on as truth. Trying to let go of that is hard. Work in progress!

Admitting that your thoughts do not DEFINE you darlings. We can not control anything ALL the time. When the negative thoughts arise tell yourself immediately in that moment that this thought is a BAD Habit, what I've been taught poorly, I can change my mind, I am Allowed to be whoever I want to be, and this negative habit is NOT that person. I can grow. I can learn. I can adapt. I AM capable of taking care of my needs to drive healthy behavior and mindsets.

Doubt ALL thought for they are not your own. Watch them come and then watch them leave…bye bye thoughts. We are not meant to live by thinking from thoughts. But by knowing from understanding. Don’t think, just know.

So much helpful information in this video! Important distinction between " positive thoughts" and helpful thoughts; back in the 1950s, 60s and 70s, when "The Power of Positive Thinking" was popular, people naturally equated positive with helpful, but time has proven the error. This video helps untangled that the knotty contradictions.

hey Julia, first of all lots of love from India.this is my first time watching your video , I have a issue and I don't know whom should I ask about it,who will be better then you, So the thing is I don't know why I can't let people raise their voice at me like I get hurt and angry if somebody shout at me , what happened is 15 days before I was hanging out with my girlfriends and one of their boyfriend was on call and he pushed us further so there's no disturbance on call and we went a bit further and started talking and suddenly out of no where he shouted at me shut up and and tears came up and I said I don't even listen to my mom's raised voice who he is ? And came back home so the my two girls friends are like my sister they are my childhood friend so I consider them my sister and she talked to her bf that it wasn't right of him to shout at me and later she called me that it was wrong of me too that I said who he is because he is also 6 year old friend he was quite close he texted me sorry too but I didn't read it and denied that I can't talk to him anymore as he disrespected me and I won't agree that it was wrong of me to say that because I think he got response against what he did , from that day she isn't talking to me and I am feeling weird like that is my boundry I can't let somebody shout at me I can't take it but then I think maybe I should have agreed that it was wrong of me to say so ,I am in selima please help me

It's important to be your own brain boss because what's the alternative? Hire someone else to run it for you? They don't have temp agencies for that kind of thing. Also who else is to be the boss but you?

Well, theoretically the advice here is reasonable, but... I have experience in trying CBT and similar techniques. I am not ruling out it might help others, but things are not so simple for me at least. You cannot expect to use logic and sort out what thoughts you want hold on to and so on. The problem is that we are not pure logical Vulcans from Star Trek. The reason tons of thoughts you don't want continue to pop into your head is emotional. And those emotions needs to be adressed before any lasting positive change can be made. Meditation is one very good way of self therapy and adressing your emotions. A healthy lifestyle and some sense of purpose in life will also help of course. So if we really could choose thoughts like in the video it would be excellent, but if you really can do that you are either not human or don't have any greater emotions behind the bad thoughts in the first place. I appreciate the effort in the video though and I hope it helps other people.
@mschrisfrank2420

She literally says you can’t choose your thoughts, that’s the whole point of the video. And often, your thoughts trigger emotions and not the other way around. So to manage your feelings, you work on managing your response to your thoughts. She’s also talking about “helpful” thoughts not “logical” thoughts.
