Im in the same boat but in southern California. 35 year old, military experience. Experimented with that junk at 21 years old multiple times then stopped. Kept a clean record both criminal and driving. Got denied by LAPD. Oh well, landed a refinery operator job and making money. Honestly still wouldnt mind doing a career switch but seems like socal agencies want angels.

Well this is in Canada, It’s way more strict here in the United States, and even if you lie about it in the initial screening process, you still have to take a lie detector test administered by a licensed psychiatrist. They are trained specifically to detect stuff like that especially when you are dealing with the heart instead of the mind so I highly suggest you just keep it real cause it’s not gonna look good if you leave information out. They are trained specifically to detect emotions, nervousness, anxiety, and more.

Not if they do a hair follicle test. Most departments usually do. I think that can detect weed from three to five years but I’m not 100% certain.

This isn’t difficult: don’t include it. Don’t admit it. Lie about it, beat it on the polygraph, it’s not that hard. Plenty of fellow officers used to smoke weed or sniff blow or pop pills. They don’t care about that. What they care about it is you being able to hold your mud if and when something goes wrong and you have to save their credibility. They prefer expert liars.
