I'm particularly interested in the east's version of the Wall. The books make it clear that the Long Night was a global event that impacted every civilization in the world, leading to stories all over their world of a great war to beat back the night. So the war against the White Walkers was also an affair that spanned the entire world. The show, despite its massive budget, just did not have the resources to so something like that. And in order to do something like it in the books, George would have to create literally thousands of new locations and characters and plots at the last minute, which is a Tolkien level feat that I don't think George can pull off. Or maybe the reason Winds is taking so long is because he's trying to. Who knows

A blend of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the King in Yellow with Carcosa, and Lovecraftian horror with the black stone forts and far eastern lands, maybe a wall situation with the Five Forts and the Lion of the Night's demons in the east.

itd also be really cool if they went dracula with why the bloodstone emperor ate human flesh. it could be a blend of vampirism and the carnivorous rakshasa demons from hindu legends. his divine blood gets mixed with some demonic power, and he himself becomes a vessel of demonic will/forces, perhaps as a punishment for humanity as the long night in westeros was. there is implications of vampires in the far east through legends of winged men and "bloodless" (bloodstarved?) men (possibly ghoul like creatures) in the far east. a different sort of living dead brought forth by blood magic rather than the undead wight armies of the cold. i think in this setting, esp if they play it differently (have them be carnivorous superhumans instead of specifically bloodsuckers, let them walk in the sun so theyre not super nerfed, etc.) it could be fun. i dont think an exact repeat of having White Walkers would work in this setting, esp considering the divergent tales and no mention of an army of the dead. the white walkers have more explicit descriptions as necromancing demons with an army of the dead. the bloodstone emperor could also be a necromancer but of a different kind. instead of ice magic, its blood magic. that could also tie into the dark traditions of leng. so many possibilities

The Great Empire of the Dawn likely surpassed Valyria. It was probably where the first dragon riders came from and from whom the Valyrians are descended. The oily black stone present around the world is very likely the result of the Great Empire building outposts, as both Asshai and Stygia are made from this stone, as is the foundation of the Hightower, and the black stone fortresses.

Yi Ti could make for a wonderful setting for anew story. But I'd prefer it if they focus on the truth behind the tales than trying to take the tales literally. Just imagine the fantastical tales told of Westeros on the other side of the world and what that means about what we hear of Yi Ti in the main story. Magic exists in the world, but it is subtle. Same goes for the tales of the Age of Heroes in Westeros and how the literal truth may be different than the tales. It's simply one other area in the world with its own unique culture, history, beliefs and people with huge potential for political and family drama with a wildly different context to Westeros.

"A great wall of ice that blocks the sun and clouds and moon where a crow-headed king rules over his kingdom of night". "A land where great lords take beasts as effigies and stalk their lands at night, shapeshifting into these very creatures' forms so none would dare defy their rule." There can certainly be magic and wonders in Yi Ti. But I think it's more interesting to interpret the truth behind the tales than depicting tales as-is. Edit: Besides. How likely are you to convince even people in Westeros (southern especially) that half these magical things (besides the Wall of course) are even real or true in the present day and not a myth of old? Valyrians had everything they wanted at their prime. Wealth, power, glory, inhumane beauty, and dragons. They considered every other place backwater. Conquering yi ti would bring them wealth no doubt, but it would be time consuming as well as being very far off from their homelands. Maintaining a colony so far isn’t really beneficial, given how one of the major reasons why the roman empire split was because it was too huge and messages and imperial decrees get delayed by months. They were more interested in human and dragon experimentation for more power.

Actually there is some evidence to support that the empire the dawn were the first dragonriders they created fused stone structures even larger than those of the Valyria. Also when Dany has a dream before the birth of her dragons she sees a line of emperors with eyes that match those of the different gemstones of their former emperors.

Some have speculated that each of the Emperors were also the dynasties. As in, the Jade Emperor may have been the title for like, 5 or 6 dudes that were all part of the "Jade Family/House Jade" and they all shared the same title of Jade Emperor) Perhaps the likes of the Hightowers or the Daynes as well, who have been speculated to be descendants of Ancient Dragonlords from the Great Empire of the Dawn.

The God Emperor must’ve been a COTF (Children of the Forest) since they have such long lifespans… Also it says he had hundreds of wives so one must’ve been human? That would explain for their shorter reigns, or shorter life spans since humans don’t live as long. Also, there’s something to be said about the eye color of the COTF too. Some eye colors are more rare than other colors. Some colors still possession magical abilities too. Some eye colors seem to be passed down and even if not, then “there’s power in King’s blood”. That doesn’t even need to be a legitimate child as Robert’s bastards had it & even Robert himself was like a 2nd cousin to Aerys since his grandmother was a Targaryen. Taking this a step further: Perhaps the Amethyst queen has to do w the magical abilities of the Targaryen - and maybe also Valyrian? The bloodstone would be black and House Stark is known for black & dark grey eye color. Also the Night King is said to be a Stark. Plus Bran the Builder is a prolific builder and there’s lots of the black stone in Westeros too & lots of his building knowledge is considered to be secretive. GRRM doesn’t believe in good is white Vs evil in black. It’s more grey to him… This is shown how Targaryens can be mad sometimes & the saying “the gods flip a coin when a Targaryen is born”. Can take this further but that’s for right now.

Could the old ones be the others? Killing all outsiders and sacrificing them to the gods sounds like what Craster has been doing with his sons. If that's the case then another wave of white walker invasion could come from the southern world, compared to the north that was the case in two current cases. Im unsure about this one. The described situation from all we know at the point of Game of Thrones is basically Three Kingdoms and a bunch of references to GRRM favourite authors (Carcosa etc). Im not sure what this really adds to the world. The idea of not knowing too much about the Far East apart from legends, crazy stories, impossible monsters and unspoken horror is something I really like. Its speak of the uncertainty the people of Westeros have about the parts of the world they barely know of. Also the casting would be interesting. You could have a primarily asian cast which hasnt happen too often in american media if I remember correctly.

I mean... I totally get expanded universes and all, but at this point, this would just be "Song of Ice and Fire" in name only. For marketing purposes. Either make the expanded stories relate to the main plot in some manner (like Mandalorians in Star Wars) or have them be also written by the main author (like whatever the hell Brandon Sanderson is doing, I'm not too familiar with him personally.) If what one is presenting is a new story with little to no connection to the original narrative, written by a new author, or a team or new writers, then... well, it's just a new story, isn't it? Might as well pick up any of the many interesting fantasy novels they have in your local library at that point.

I'm kind of scared I'm going to be honest I'm scared that this is going to be bad. I mean don't get me wrong this really could be a good show but I've taken from what little we've gotten this is basically Three kingdoms. And the area yiti is just basically China in the time. Of the Three kingdoms like the story of the Three kingdoms or the time. It's very conflicting saying that didn't exist they did exist blah blah but the point is a lot of crazy stuff. Happened and if they are able to pull this off. It will be a pretty amazing show but I am scared that they'll. Somehow drop the ball on this because when it comes to chinese-based fantasies I'm all for. It I'm really all for it if it's good it has good writing and it has good politics and intrigue into the show. Ok so yi ti is prolly very Asian inspired on prolly one of longest lasting kingdoms. Buildings in asahi and even dawn empire might be china or other Asian inspired we don't yet know how much for one. Also Dany saw some of the jewel emperors. They had white blonde, targ blonde, and silver hair, then all their diff eye colors. They also predate dragons. So I'm not saying you said it but I'd not write it all off as the Asia of a song of ice and fire because the velaryian look like fantasy ppl or actually very European inspired so I'm thinking already a melting pot and that humans went to westeros from esos and prior to that there were no humans

It would be funny if the God emperor actually ascended to God-hood like he said. But in doing so he fucked up the magical enegry in that enpire that the life spans and strength of his empire suffered because of it. Bloodstone emperor certainly did something to cause a long night thinking he can reach God emperors height as I imagine the emeperors were getting weaker and weaker by generation. Do something to fain strength but cause the long night on the world and end your empire. I consider the westeros long night a different one that happened after the essos one caused by the bloodstone emperor. Maybe the children of the forest did fight the others during essos Long night that affected the world. At that time Children of the forest were large and strong enough to fight against them with the heldp of Giants. During the time of the first men and andals they are considerably weak and dwindling in population.

Besides, it's clear they borrow the concept of general xianxia literature to paint Yi Ti I don't think it would mesh well with the tone of the previous work, just leave them alone I would say. Sometimes separation of genre is important to maintain consistent style on the narrative.

They shouldnt make a show if there isn't enough content from GRRM. At the end of the day, all these interesting ideas will be pointless if the writing, story development, and characters is bad. The only way I can see them making a great story, is if they find someone who is a great writer similar to GRRM but an expert on Chinese and eastern history and mythology to build the lore of this universe similar to how GRRM used historical inspirstion to make events that rhyme in asoiaf.

Its funny to think that people care a lot about the east in ASOIAF while in reality even GRRM said that he didnt give too much thought about it and just created it to make the world feel more "alive" lol. I dont wanna destroy your fanfic's but most prob east is the same as west, like real history. People fear it because, a) Very less people return from those regions since the story takes place in a timeline similar to medieval age where technology isnt that good for traveling long distances. b) People coming from there tell stories that are probably exxagerated like crazy and nobody knows whats happening there. Yes there are a few "magical" or "fantasy" elements in the series like Dragons and White walkers (Which werent even a certain thing till the TV series came out) etc etc but mostly GRRM series is pretty much realistic. So keep that in mind when you guys make a theory on the comments lmao.
