I can see why armwrestling would be fascinating to an overall strongman because they think automatically that they've been there and done all the possible lifts there is to do!?! Then all of a sudden you're being taught all these new complex angles of attack for the first time which involves strength in areas you didn't know. Then the realization kicks in that you're not as strong in your arm as you thought you were. That's when the armwrestling bug bites and it's poison starts to spread💯
@freyaviii1616
@freyaviii1616 Жыл бұрын
@@westcoastkawhia2470 Very very little chance. Will take 2-3 years of focussing mainly on armwrestling for him to have the knowledge and ability in his locker to go against Levan with even the slimmest of hope. Strength is obviously insane important, but when it's two really strong dudes.. the table knowledge is 90% of where the battle is won. Go to any armwrestling event and you see absolutely massive dudes practicing with people half their size (who shift less than half their weights in training) and they simply have no chance; the smaller dude with all the knowledge feels like moving a brick wall.

The big surprise when you 1st start arm wrestling is just how technical it is. It’s a cross between BJJ & Chess. It’s fascinating and you can see Brian really digging the technical part of it and all the different pressures he’s feeling through his hand and wrist. If he keeps with it he could be a really huge name in arm wrestling in the future.
@Siberius-
@Siberius- Жыл бұрын
I feel chess is already incorporated into BJJ there. Armwrestling is cool because it's the only sport I know where the combat element is primarily who is stronger than the other person (and technique, but you need the strength to apply the technique and strength is the limiting factor in getting better, even if the technique improves a lot). The closest thing I can think of is like, Highland Games tug of war? lol. BJJ requires a lot of strength and it's very important, but I don't think it's the limiting factor as much as it is in armwrestling.

It is never a bad thing to train specific muscles that are not regularly used much. The whole body is designed to work together and the stronger the auxiliary muscles are the more the main muscles can put towards doing the task you are asking of it. These exercises will likely make you stronger in the dumbbell press as well as any load & carry event. The stronger you hands are the easier it is to lift & move with anything. Your whole forearm is designed to move your hand & wrist. So the stronger every muscle of your forearm is the easier any lift reliant on hand strength will be.

Brian I really hope you get into arm wrestling. With your mentality. You would be doing crazy training and seriously you have all the attributes to be the best in the world within probably three years. Todd Hutchings got into the sport around your age and he’s one of the best in the world right now probably the best in his weight class. He’s like 55 years old

I really want you to do this not just because I'm into armwresling but because it looks to me that you have the aggression to be a fighter, the seriousness, manliness, it would have been nice to see you manifest that someway, armwresling is a method to archive that

Brian should also learn the secret John Brzenk had all these years. He crushed a CoC while in full wrist cup, where the crushing strength is at it's weakest. He could do a 1.5 while his hand was nearly perpendicular to his forearm.
