Hey Becky! Always lovely to see you! I suspect things look especially good in my Green Stalks this year because the amount of rain and cool temperatures we've had over the past month has been incredible (its rained every weekend for the past month and another 1-2 days per week. There have been a few abnormally hot days, but temps have averaged between 40-65 degrees, perfect for cool season crops). In recent years "true spring" (ya know, the kind where you can leave your windows open and enjoy a cool breeze) has felt like its only lasted a week or two. Each year the garden is different, but I'm so happy to hear you've got it going!

The canning video you mentioned was truly something I was very nervous to share, but it truly speaks to the core of why canning means so much to me and how it can powerful serve your family and loved ones in ways that aren't talked about much. While we wait a few more years to move to a small homestead, gardening with Green Stalks has allowed to step into my "gardener identity" while still tucked in my townhome and honey I'm just so grateful! The ease of watering, rotating your garden, easily accessing your plants can't be beat. I'd never be able to grow this much if it weren't for my Green Stalks. Hello new friend! Thanks for saying hi! I've got several other videos sharing different topics about growing in a Green Stalk (with more to come). It sounds like you and I are in the same boat, but one thing I can tell you is that vertical gardening is the way to maximize growing food in a small space. I pack out these planters and wouldn't be able to grow nearly as much as I am if my only option was pots or buckets. It sounds as if you come from a rich agricultural heritage and are "returning to your roots". I'd love to be able to process my own meats as you godmother did and hopefully that's a skill I'll learn in time. Until then, there is so much joy even with a humble homestead (as I like to call my townhome!). Blessings to you my friend!

Hey Cassandra, You are a whole vibe I enjoyed watching you show case your garden and simple recipes. I just planted some micro greens on Friday and they are already sprouting I was super excited just to see a little growth. It’s something about growing your own food that’s so satisfying and healthy. Girl I'm here to stay. Looking backward over your videos. The one about having a child. I felt that one. I kept having miscarriages, one born then died. God blessed me with one daughter and I may never have grandchildren but he answered my prayers. I'm praying that he will open your womb like Sarah, Rachel and Hannah in his time. I have nothing but love for you my Lil Sista !🥰💕💃🏽🌹.

Love these recipes. You are so inspiring. Thank you for sharing your journey. It’s very motivating! Would love to see a video of books and resources that you love: herb usage, gardening, etc. I’m from Maryland originally and can’t wait to meet you At Homesteaders of America conference in October.

Just found your channel and I absolutely love it. Even though our growing seasons are different it still gives me some ideas for when we have spring. I love your personality keep it going.

I made pizza recently,... wish I'd thought of pesto sauce at the time. That looks yummy! It's no possible to add to many veggies to a meal 😋 Going to try those pickled chard stems, too.

Hi Susan! I just love a good homemade pizza! Later on in the season when tomatoes are coming in, I'll use them to make my sauce, but since I have basil already, it's a great way to make sure I'm constantly cooking with ingredients I have on hand. Like you I love to stuff veggies into everything!

@@BecomingaFarmGirl Last 2 years I've made Garlic Scape Pesto, which tuned out very well. Just another way to not let anything go to waste. Have a blessed day!

Hi friend, let me first say this whole video made me hungry this morning 😅… also thanks for the encouragement for the green stalk, I’ve had mine for two months now and I have still haven’t planted anything because I was sure if I should have used seeds of plant starts ..😢 but your so encouraging, in going out this weekend to get me some plant starts 🎉 .. thanks and I’ll keep you updated 😂 . Melissa from Pennsylvania.

Good Morning, Melissa! Haha, sorry to make you so hungry but once the plants in your Green Stalk starts to take off you really will have so many wonderful options to fold into meals. I use a combination of seeds, starts that I've purchased from my local farmers market or grown at home. Give yourself a season or two to figure out what works best for you. I just got two more Green Stalks (don't judge me, lol) and I'm going to do a video exclusively dedicated to my "strategy" behind how/what/what I pack in each pocket to give others some ideas. I'm so glad you've started your Green Stalk garden!

Congratulations on 100k! 🎉I love all your ideas. Do you have your pizza dough recipe somewhere?

Thank you so much, Pam! I'm happy to share the pizza dough recipe. I've used it for several years and love it. If you enjoy the slightly greasy, crispy Pizza Hut pan pizza crust, it comes out just like that: Here's the link: bakerbettie.com/homemade-pan-pizza-perfectly-crispy-crust/

I love your videos and the creative way you use all parts of food. Growing up I don't remember my mom throwing away much either. For example, she chopped up the stems of collard greens and cooked them too. Delicious and nutritious! I haven't had much success starting from seeds, so this year I tried starts. It must be what I needed for this New York City climate. They're doing well. Looking forward to a harvest!
