They started writing their own songs very young. Here's one of them, Three Kisses Of Love.

They started performing when Barry was 9 and the twins were 6. The group BeeGees was established in 1958. That's the year their baby brother Andy was born. He had a great solo career. First 3 songs his number one. Please react to Andy Gibb on the Midnight Special singing, I Just Wanna Be Your Everything. This song was his first release.

They started so young, and continued through the decades, as music styles changed, they would change to keep current. They are definitely the G.O.A.T. writing so many songs for so many artists, as well as all that they recorded. Barry is the last surviving BeeGee.Maurice(pronounced Morris), and Robin have left us. The youngest brother, Andy, passed quite a while ago, and was a star in his own right. They have a sister who is still alive, I believe. I'm not sure if she followed down the same musical path as her brothers, but I do believe she could sing. Thank you Saeed !! This is one big rabbit hole you could get lost in. 😊

The first part of the Bee Gees career, the 60s, is absolutely fabulous! There are at least a dozen classic singles from that time. Up until the mid 70's really. The disco era was okay, but the singer songwriter days are unparalleled, in this geezer's opinion.

They started performing as the Bee Gees in 1958. There is actually a video of them performing Time is passing by in 1960. Love your reactions ❤Started singing harmony in 1955 when Barry was 9 and the twins were 6. Barry started writing songs at age 8 and his brothers joined in as they got older. All 3 great song writers, singers and producers.

@@SaeedReacts. Lesley (two years older than Barry) could also sing, but she didn`t like to become a singer. She married in Australia, has a dog breeding business and had 7 or 8 children. Barry said in an interview he doesn't know exactly how many children she has, he thinks 7, but she could be pregnant again right now!😂 The brothers are also great comedians, there are some videos on KZbin just about their humor, like Gotcha, funny moments, a fun version of their song In the morning...!

This song was originally by Lonnie Donegan in 1960. I always loved their older songs (especially "Massachusetts" - a rare acoustic version : kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5LVXoGAatedjZIsi=nal2OOK-JYaYlCTM). The only surviving brother now is Barry (the oldest). Rest in peace Maurice, Robin and Andy (Andy wasn't in the Bee Gees but was a solo act and passed much too young).

I read up on younger brother Andy's later days ( as I'm typically curious about those things ) But don't want to add it here as everyone is so positive in comments ....~ Lot's of insight in comments ! After all , WHO a person WAS is really about HOW they lived / what they contributed ... and not how it ended . I love this performance ; it's so Vaudevillian ! Thanks for this reaction !

They moved around a lot because their father couldn’t keep the rent paid, but he managed to bring home a tv when Barry was about 8. They said Barry quickly grew square eyes, fascinated with the entertainment. He saw an entertainer (possibly Tommy Steele), pointed at the tv and said “That’s what I’m going to do.” One neighborhood girl tells a story of their parents frantically knocking on doors looking for Barry. They found him on the loading dock at the closed ice cream factory belting out Home, Home On the Range to the empty back lot… rehearsing for his future career. Their father (a drummer and band leader when not driving a bread truck or working on the ferry) managed to scrape up enough for a used guitar for Barry’s 9th Christmas. Maurice said Barry told them he was going to be a pop star when he grew up, and he asked if they could be pop stars, too. Barry said yes, and Barry was the big brother, and he knew everything, so they never doubted. They had natural three part harmonies - probably from their mother’s side of the family, and because they had musical parents, they had a lot of support. At 12 and 9 years old, they became the sole breadwinners for the family… still moving constantly because their father (now managing them, including performances in adult clubs) didn’t pay the rent. None of the four Gibb boys sat at a school desk past 14 years old! They had a dream and talent and an unparalleled work ethic. The earliest surviving video is from shortly after they were “discovered” from 1960 TIME IS PASSING BY - one of Barry’s songs. They were little pros already. It’s fascinating!

One writer described it as a sort of parent-child role reversal, with Barry becoming the stabilizing force for the family beginning at that point. There are more interviews of their parents than for most entertainers. Their mother said in one interview that everybody calls Barry with their problems, and Barry knows what to do. One of her recurring stories is that she had to wash and iron 28 white shirts per week for them and their father, and that Barry didn’t like for her to send them out to the cleaners, because they used too much starch. My guess is that Barry also knew they couldn’t afford to send out, didn’t like the constant moving, and was being the responsible decision maker. in 1979, at the height of their career, they toured for the summer with their wives and children, parents, mother’s mother and sister, and Andy appeared at at least one show. Their father was part of the sound crew. He was living his own personal dream through his boys. Barry settled in Miami in the mid 70’s, has been married to Linda for over 50 years with 5 children together, and still lives in the same home. No more moving around. He provided for his children the best of what they had (2 parent family and siblings), but the stability, roots, and education they had missed.
